Ще одним птахом, якого можна не рідко спостерігати та доволі не складно фотографувати - це лебідь-шипун (Cygnus olor).

У нашому місті вони зазвичай полюбляють річку Леглич, яка протікає вздовж всього міста. Частіше за все їх можна спостерігати тут восени, але якщо взимку річка повністю не вкриється кригою, то можна побачити й зимою.

Свою назву вони отримали через те, що коли погрожують, то починають шипіти.

Тіло цього птаха покривають близько 25000 пір'їн, що забезпечує дуже чудову теплоізоляцію.

У шлюбний сезон наріст на дзьобі лебедя-шипуна збільшується. Чим більший наріст, тим кращий фізичний стан птаха.

У лебедів-шипунів з'являються як сірі, так і білі пташенята, яких у минулому помилково визнавали окремим видом. В дорослому віці білі пташенята відрізняються від своїх звичайних родичів світло-рожевими лапами.

Mute swans give birth to both gray and white chicks, which in the past were mistakenly recognized as a separate species. In adulthood, white chicks differ from their common relatives by their light pink feet.
