Postcards from Corupá: A photographic journey in its 128 years (ENG/ESP)

Hello friends, I hope you're all well and that you enjoyed your weekend. Recently, the charming city of Corupá, located in southern Brazil, celebrated its 128th anniversary, a week ago to be exact. I've been able to call this city home for just over a year, having moved from Cuba to Brazil, and in that short time, I've seen what a very special place it is. That's why, in this post, I'd like to share with you some photos and impressions of this beautiful place.

Hola amigos, espero que estén muy bien y que hayan disfrutado de su fin de semana. Recientemente, la encantadora ciudad de Corupá, ubicada en el sur de Brasil, celebró su aniversario número 128, hace una semana para ser más exactos. Hace poco más de un año que puedo llamar mi hogar a esta ciudad, pues vine desde Cuba a vivir aquí y en este poco tiempo he podido ver que es un lugar muy especial. Es por eso que en este post me gustaría compartir con ustedes algunas fotos e impresiones de este bello lugar.

Corupá is known for its lush nature, calm atmosphere, and the famous "Waterfalls Route" (Rota das Cachoeiras), a trail surrounded by Atlantic forest and fresh air, which I haven't had the chance to visit, but would love to at some point. The city is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and it's impossible not to be amazed by the landscape. It's also well-known for its banana production, so much so that you can find small banana-shaped trash cans throughout the city.

Corupá es conocida por su naturaleza exuberante, su ambiente tranquilo y la famosa "Ruta de las Cascadas" (Rota das Cachoeiras), un sendero rodeado de bosque atlántico y aire puro el cual no he tenido la oportunidad de visitar, pero me gustaría hacerlo en algún momento. La ciudad está rodeada de montañas, ríos y es imposible no dejarse maravillar por el paisaje. También es muy conocida por su producción de bananas, tanto así que por toda la ciudad puedes encontrarte con pequeños botes de basura en forma de banana 😄.

The Seminary is a very beautiful place in the city. In addition to being a religious center, it has a large space where many cultural and sporting events are held. It's also a place where families come to have a good time, where they can enjoy an afternoon picnic, and where children have space to run around in the fresh air, play sports, and just have fun. I've been there several times to play soccer with my family and other friends, and I also remember the book fair being held there.

El Seminario es un lugar muy bonito de la ciudad, además de ser un centro religioso, es un lugar que posee un amplio espacio en el que se hacen muchos eventos culturales y deportivos. También es un lugar en el que las familias van a pasar un buen momento, donde pueden disfrutar una tarde de picnic y los niños tienen espacio para correr al aire libre, practicar algún deporte y simplemente divertirse. Ya he ido varias veces allí a jugar fútbol con mi familia y otros amigos, y también recuerdo que se hiciera allí la feria del libro.

During the celebration, the pride of its residents was evident; some shops were decorated, and history permeated the air: 128 years of culture, development, and community spirit. I love that from anywhere in the city, you can see the mountains and watch the sun set until you can just see the top of the mountain being touched by its rays.

Durante su celebración se notaba el orgullo de sus habitantes, algunas tiendas estaban decoradas y se respiraba historia en el ambiente: 128 años de cultura, desarrollo y espíritu comunitario. Me encanta que desde cualquier lugar de la ciudad puedas ver las montañas y ver como el sol se va escondiendo hasta solo ver la punta de la montaña siendo tocada por sus rayos.

The train station also has its charm, as there's a tourist tour known as "Maria Fumaça," which takes you through the city and its mountains on a steam train. In fact, it's another of my things to do in the city; I always see people from other states coming to enjoy this tour.

La estación ferroviaria también tiene su encanto, pues hay un paseo turístico conocido como "María Fumaça", en el cual viajas a través de la ciudad y sus montañas en un tren a vapor. De hecho es otra de las cosas que tengo pendientes por hacer en la ciudad, siempre veo como personas de otros estados vienen a disfrutar de este recorrido.

In short, I'm glad I was able to share with you some photos that capture the essence of Courpá: its nature, its people, and its serene beauty. Each image is like a little postcard of this enchanting corner. I hope you enjoyed it, and thanks for reading 😊.
