Amza Pellea Memorial House, the place where I discovered the life of a great Romanian actor

Hello travelers

In today's blog we will go together to discover the life of one of the greatest actors that Romania had, why I say that he had, simply, the actor left this world young, as I remember I think he was 52 years old when he died.

It's about Amza Pellea, I can say that he is my favorite actor, and yes, all the movies he acted in were made in the communist period (that is the period before 1989), this made some of them to be made in black and white, but this is not an obstacle to watch them.

Even if at that time the technology of making feature-length films was poorly developed in Romania, these films have a charm that cannot be found in films made today with 21st century technology.

Here in Romania we have a TV channel dedicated only to Romanian movies, it's something sensational, to have the possibility to see the movies of the great directors that Romania has had.

For me, it's a real pleasure to have the opportunity to see how the movies were made, including the stunts and wardrobe/props in some of the movies.

So come with me to Băilești (Dolj county) home of one of the most famous actors Romania has ever had.

We'll go to the very place where the great actor was born, grew up and from where he went on his life's journey.

The Amza Pellea Memorial House was born thanks to his daughter who wanted those interested in seeing what the great actor's life was like, to be able to see it exactly where he left it.

The Memorial House can be visited daily between 8am-8pm and the cost of a ticket is 10lei/2euro/person.

The house museum is not very big, it has only two rooms that can be visited, here we can see photos of the great actor and some of the props he used in the movies he starred in.

If somehow you got here you surely can't leave without taking a souvenir.

The picture below shows the actor's favorite coat.

We continue with articles of props used in several movies.

Here we can see the actor's birth certificate.

Aww, what memories, in the middle is the actor's picture and left-right are pictures of his parents and different moments in the actor's life.

Hi there… I really enjoyed this walk through the Memorial House of this actor... It’s left me thinking that I’ve barely seen any Romanian cinema. I’ll have to add it to my list.

The old photographs are marvellous, and seeing his personal belongings stirred up a lot of curiosity in me. Some of those little objects are so delicate and beautiful, and no doubt they held deep personal meaning and stories for him. It’s truly lovely that such a space exists to honour his memory.

🤓 Greetings!

Romanian cinematography was and still is an amazing one with very talented actors, but wait, I'm talking about the old cinematography from 30-40 years ago, for me this is the real cinematography, here are the real actors and directors.
I really recommend you to watch Romanian movies, my favorite is Nea Mărin miliardar (translated would be the billionaire uncle).
These old Romanian movies have a special charm, a bohemian air that I honestly don't find in today's movies.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
