Easter Fair- Viana do Castelo Portugal

(Edited)

Today is Easter Eve, Portugal lives this tradition a lot, most people are believers and now even more so with these war issues and even the crisis, people are increasingly attached to "superior beings"

Easter is lived intensely and anyone who comes to Portugal can see it better than I say, especially in the historic areas and in the abysmal number of churches and chapels.
However, for the little ones we also have more didactic things and even for those who like to eat or drink.
In this case, I went to a city where eating and drinking well is one of its mottos, as this the land of good green wines, and the best national charcuterie, especially in the area of sausages.

Who doesn't like a good spicy chorizo and a good green wine?

Right at the entrance to Praça da República, I could see a special decoration for Easter. On the floor there were several installations of rabbits and Easter eggs, and many colorful flowers, which Portugal is proud to show in spring, were present in every corner of the square. Ambient music also contributed to the cheerful and relaxed atmosphere of the fair.

The sunny and hot day brought a lot of people to the fair , this time many emigrants come to visit their families which contributes to an increase in people at this time and as expected also increases the distribution of money in these small municipalities , which need it to survive in calmer times, Portugal in recent years has invested heavily in tourism.
There were also a lot of people from Spain, Viana do Castelo is only 60 kilometers from Spain, which attracts a lot of people from Spain to here.
I'll be honest for a moment it felt like the city had become "Spain" because there were more people from Spain than Portugal, which I thought was really funny

Walking through the stalls, I could see a wide variety of products. From local handicrafts, such as ceramics and fabrics, to food products, such as bread, cheese, sweets and wine. There were also stalls with typical products from other regions of Portugal.

But what caught my attention the most were the artistic installations with rabbits and chicks. In each of the tents, there was at least one installation of these animals, made of different materials, such as fabric, ceramics and papier-mâché. Some were so realistic that they seemed to jump out of the tent.
The children were delighted with the facilities and of course the parents did not stop taking pictures.

Activities for children were also highlighted at the fair. There was a space dedicated to painting Easter eggs, where children could use their creativity to decorate the eggs with paints and stickers.

I didn't take pictures because they were children, but I also leave this idea so that in the future whoever visits them can make the most of the experience.

The location of Praça da República is also a big advantage. Located in the heart of the city, it is easily accessible on foot or by car, with easy access as it is very close to the highway that connects Porto to Caminha, in Spain there are many parking options nearby, and best of all, most of them are free. Around the square, you will find many shops, restaurants and cafes that invite you to explore the city further.
