Majestic and cultural capital city Madrid, Spain

Hi dear Hive community,

Since we both enjoy exploring the fantastic planet Earth, we will try to share more of that with you. We like to share our new adventures that enrich and inspire us. Therefore today, we are going back in time to this summer, when Steffen went on a short break to Spain to visit some of his old friends, like Holger who came to visit us in Slovenia this winter.

In the meantime, he made many new friends with which they explored the city center and also outskirt. They were enjoying tasty street food and explored the nightlife like bars and street dancing.

When flying from nearby Venice he made excellent shoots of the mountains that we are normally hiking. The view on the sea and the city from air is just breathtaking.

Spain is known for it’s rich culture and history, since it was one of the top countries in the world due to colonialism. They have great location in the Western Europe with full access to the open sea, which enabled them to become excellent traders and merchants.

All that wealth can be seen in old biggest cities, specially Madrid. Since it‘s literally the center of this peninsula, it‘s one of the most populated cities in Spain. Did you know that with 3.4 million people without counting the suburbs, it’s the second most populated city in Europe?

The city itself is combined and intertwined with many architecture styles, from refined wealthy palaces and old churches to modern architecture with high glass skyscrapers. Like all the other cities it has many sightseeing with different squares, markets, streets and historically significant buildings.

Generally you can be sure you’ll never be bored as the city is always alive offering many interesting events. Beside that, you will guaranteed always enjoy delicious food.

After one week of discovering Madrid, he went with ultrafast train to visit his dear friend Luis from Zaragoza.
