Ice Climbers Of Sydenham Falls
For a weekend outing with the family, we decided to go on a hike to Sydenham falls in Dundas Ont. The starting point is at a train bridge that runs over the creek. Usually with a small waterfall under it and just past it. But with the snow covered ice, neither were even visible.
We past the tracks and my youngest daughter was quite amazed with a side waterfall and a person climbing it!
My 4 year old daughter has come to several waterfalls with me, but this was her first time in the winter, and my 2 year old's first waterfall ever! Both were over the moon with joy about doing it!
After a short walk past the side waterfall, we reached Sydenham falls. A 45 foot tall Complex Ribbon waterfall, completely frozen!
They stood looking in awe at the beauty.
Then started asking. What are those people doing? There was a group of ice climbers tackling the falls. Weall relaxed and watched as they made their way up and then back down.
It really is an amazing thing to watch the wonder in children's eyes, the realization of what is possible and watch can be done. As they watch people do cool things!
With sunset approaching, we made our way back out with some very excited little girls! I highly recommend this hike to anyone who ends up in the area.
