"And the forest perfume trees and earth. It’s like incense in a shrine. You fall into a state of prayer.”Keiichi Sigsawa.

Sometime things does not go as per plan. At such time, we need to remain content and makes most of the available moment. I think this is what happened this Sunday. This is second time in as many visits, that we are unable to exlore the Jungle Safari at the Betla National Park. It is one of the few places in India which is very popular for Tiger sighting. The park is famous for jungle safari in an open jeep which allows people sighting few of the wild animals in their natural habitat. This is one of the biggest wildlife sanctuary which is spread over in the 1026 Sq meter of the jungle. This is one of the oldest tiger reserve in India. Recently there were news of 4 Tigers sighting in the park. The timing was perfect, as we were too at the same location. However, we again ran out of our luck. Last time it was due to Covid-19, that the park was closed and now this time is was due to an wild elephant which went berserk inside the jungle as per the Forest department. The safari was not allowed for the visitors safety concern. So we enjoyed a little walk around the area.

"Betla National Park" - is located in Latehar district of Palamu division of Chota Nagpur plateau. It is not a popular tourist spot like the other major tiger rserve in other parts of India. But it is still quite a nice place with many adventure option available. The main attraction being the Tree Houses. Built on the lap of nature amidst deep forest. I can certainly say, any nature loving person will enjoy their stay at this beautiful set up.

The Term "Betla" is derived from the different wild life animals found inside the jungle. The park is managed by the Forest Department and is well maintaned place for some quality time. It is not limited only to the jungle safari, but it has other option for some good times. The name 'Betla' is an acronym of different wild habitat of the jungle.

BETLA means, B - Bison, E - Elephant, T - Tiger, L - Leopard, A - Axis-Axis (deer).

Just for the memory sake, i took this picture. Never know when i could have the next visit to this place.

I always like to take a jungle safari, I gives a different adventure experience. I had been to Ranthambore, and Gir. At both location we sighted the Tiger. It is always exciting to see the wild animals in their natural habitat. At all the location, proper arrangements were made for the safari tour anf tourist safety. Being Sunday we reached there early in the day, only to know that, it was closed due to an Elephant which has caused lot of ruckus overnite. We learned that Forest department official went inside the jungle to tranquilize him. So no visitors were allowed, till the operation gets over. It was not only us, but we noticed there were not many vistors around. Those who came, started going back. But we decided to take around the place to explore various option that the park is offering. The park is very famous for providing the Tree House accommodation. This is the only place which offer Tree house option for the over night or for few days to stay in middle of the jungle and get the natural experience.

1000025388.jpg

These were not like the one which h were built on topmost the trees, but it was made with wooden block and near to the entrance gate. But too too close the wild life area and surrounded by many green trees. These accommodation options are sure to make the adventure here a memorable experience. People can book them as per their plan through this link.
There were number of them made. Made up of wooden blocks it looks very fascinating and attractive. How else one could get a true jungle living experience.

1000025394.jpg1000025395.jpg

We kept roaming here and there. There was strict warning of not getting down from the path or venture to the grounds. It was done for safety purposes. A sweeper at the place told us that, many Elephant comes near to these wooden cottages. I was fascinated with the thoughts of living inside the forest with the wildlife around me. Probably we may be able to see or woke us with elephants and tiger or some other wildlife knocking at the door. The mere though of enjoying the nature from the comfort of bedroom windows and balcony is unparalleled and a thrilling experience.

1000025389.jpg

It is not the tree houses only, but the he Forest Department has built Jungle Lodges with Canteen in the area. All these were done to enable the tourist enjoy the wildlife and beauty of this National Park. As I said this is not a popular because of some Naxal menace in earlier time. But as I have travelled to this area I found a no risk or danger visiting again and again.
The jungle lodges were kept nicely and very cleaned. It going to be a welcome break for us. But the way we ran out of safari luck, we also running out of our time. We were desperate to have a day at the place in the lap of nature into the wilderness. But, keep ourself content with the excitement, as I have other things to cover.

1000025402.jpg

1000025400.jpg

By the way, we happen to to see few wild animals, if was the monkey which kept accompanying me throughout our walk. They did not let us to feel alone. There were many of the around, but did not harmed us. So we were safe.

1000025404.jpg

We also did some photography. It has a well maintained parks and greenery all around. It is a perfect option of escaping into the wilderness into the Cozy Tree Houses and these lodges nestled in the hearts of the Betla National Park. When we have such a nice fresh set up, who cares to go inside the wild life. I was fully enjoying our Sunday in the park.

1000025701.jpg1000025694.jpg

The walk way were nicely maintained and it was perfect for some photo shoot. We did many of them. We hardly get such set for some natural clicks, and surrounded by greenery.

1000025403.jpg

We keep.on walking and enjoying the time in the national park. Talking about reaching to the place. It is situated on the outskirts of main palamu town. It is 24 km away from city. One need to book a private taxis to reach to this place. The place remain closed for tourist from July to September due to rainy season. So avoid visiting this place during these these 3 months.

Our walk keep continuing and snapping as many pictures as possible of the green jungle.

1000025391.jpg

The park also has kids playing zone. So the officials have taken care of everything. It is not only limited for the jungle safaris but a normal can visit the place and enjoy a little picnic. The kids too enjoy the swings and rides set up inside the compound.

1000025393.jpg

1000025392.jpg

We had pretty good times exploring the place. We made up our mind to stay in any one of these Tree Houses on our next visit. Before going back from the place, I took this picture. The gate at the far end is from where the safari starts. Elephants , monkey, Langford were very common till that gate.

1000025686.jpg

The Betla National Park is set up on the lap of nature amidst deep forest. Situated along the virgin landscape of Jharkhand state of India, which is very popular for its rich flora and fauna. A perfect destination for all the nature loving people. If you love nature, I can say certainly say you will enjoy a short trip away from hustle and bustle of busy city life at this very location.

The best time to enjoy the nature is between Oct-Mar I.e during the winters season in India.

PS: all photography are shot using my smartphone

Peace!!

It is a nice park, the cabins are big and very nice, I would like to stay there, although I would be a little afraid of the elephants and tigers but I would like to see them through the window.

The time will come when you can do the whole safari.
