Hello dearest friends, how are you?

I hope everything is going well. Today, with more time on my hands, I've decided to share with you some photos I took a while ago at Nozzano Castle, a beautiful fortress from the 1300s located in the province of Lucca, practically near the municipality of Piana di Lucca. What I liked about this place is that it is situated on a small elevation near the Serchia River.

I still remember when I took these photos, and as you can see, it was quite cloudy and cold that day. However, my curiosity and desire to always discover new things drove me to park my car nearby and personally explore this beautiful castle that I had heard so much about.

before arriving where the castle is located there is an opening in the walls surrounding the small village

On that day, I was quite fortunate to meet a gentleman who told me that every year at the end of August, they hold a medieval reenactment at this location. During this event, one can experience life in the 1300s, the era when this beautiful castle was built. Additionally, participants can even exchange medieval coins used during that time.

I think the watch is very fascinating!!

One thing that immediately caught my attention was the clock placed on the main tower, probably added in a later period than the 1300s. It's worth noting that over the years, this area has witnessed various conflicts and battles, and more than once, this castle has been destroyed and then rebuilt.

If you happen to be in this area, I recommend not just visiting this small but intriguing castle. Unfortunately, it seems that the castle is only open on certain occasions, which is a bit disappointing as it limits regular access. I couldn't explore the interior, but this will definitely be an opportunity for a future visit.

In conclusion, I can say that this was another beautiful discovery. I must confess that, architecturally speaking, castles are one of those constructions I adore because each one has something different, something that makes it unique and, in any case, very traditional.

Your pictures are beautiful and I also think that castles are beautiful, they have a lot of history. Thank you for sharing.

Italy is so beautiful!!! Too bad there are just a couple of places and cities so famous for the rest of Europe. Places like this one are worth so much more attention from tourism in general.
