New Zealand - Visiting Cape Reinga Lighthouse At The Northernmost Tip

Hello there!

Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries and regions, including Japan, Maldives, Indonesia, US and the latest one being several countries in Europe, it's time to fly south and share on one of most picturesque countries in the world, and that's New Zealand!

This trip was took place several years back in 2015, and the trip was filled with adventures and many unique activities and experiences.

Here are the posts so far:
Day Hike @ Tongariro Alpine Crossing
New Zealand - Dolphin Watching At Bay Of Islands
New Zealand - Exploring The Scenic Otehei Bay

It's another new day in New Zealand and we have another day of adventure ahead!

We continued our local guided tour and we spent a majority of the morning travelling on our bus. Of course, we were not supposed to be taking naps because we are driving along an "attraction" called Ninety Mile Beach! It is on the western coast on the far north of the North Island. And our destination would be to visit the Cape Reinga Lighthouse at the northernmost tip of New Zealand!

It was quite a long ride to reach and we also had a breakfast break in between. The sights along the journey were very scenic. If you are someone who likes blue skies and sandy beaches, and enjoy listening to waves crashing onto the shore, this would be paradise to you. We also had some time to stroll before getting back onto the bus.

And yes, we have arrived, somewhere this entire stretch of Ninety Mile Beach. Some parts of the beaches had a small beach to wander around because of the tides. What was interesting to me was there were points where the waves were so close to the bus! The weather was good and we were able to alight from the bus, to explore around and take some nice photos.

As you can see the stretch of sand is just endless!

On our way to the northernmost tip of New Zealand, we also had another activity planned in the itinerary, that's sandboarding at the sand dunes. I I actually sat out for this activity because I have tried this before when I visited Sydney, Australia previously, and also, it can be very tiring to climb the slope in order to enjoy the few seconds of thrill. Lol. So I just stayed near the bus and watch people have fun!

Here's another tour group making their way up! You probably got to zoom in on the photo! Hehe!

After all that fun (by the others), we continued our way up north, and it was past noon when we finally reached our destination. The rest of the way was by foot. Look how far we have come from the sandy area!

Eye test! Can you see the Cape Reinga Lighthouse in this photo? That's where we will be walking to!

On our way there, of course we could not stop taking photos because the views were so breathtaking! The landscape, the cliffs, the waves, just amazing.

After a 10 minute walk, the Cape Reinga Lighthouse was starting to look a lot bigger. But we were so near yet so far!

The best thing about walk towards the lighthouse is that I don't feel fatigued or tired because I was always distracted by the scenery and just the vibes of being within nature.

And we reached! It was definitely not as big as we expected but still of a decent height.

This was some random signboard which showed how far different places were from the northernmost tip of New Zealand.

And finally, here's the view from the northernmost tip of New Zealand! There's no more land from here! Just a steep cliff and the sound of waves crashing onto the shore! Not sure how far one would have to swim to reach the next country or island! Hehe.

And so we began our way back to the bus, walking the same route that we came from. Being someone who has been living in a city my entire life, this was really a refreshing experience, to see endless miles of sands and beaches, borderless waters that extend to nowhere into the horizon, and just immerse myself in nature.

And that's all I have today! Have you been to New Zealand? Let me know in the comments below!

Finally, thanks for reading my post in the community under World Map Pin!

This scenery is very beautiful. Long sand beach is calming place to walk along.
Lighthouse looks nice. Spending night in lighthouse with waves and wind would be some experience.
Also bus on the beach was surprise - that must be some hard sand beach since wheels can move over there it.
Good read and super photos.
Have a good one.
