Crystal Clear Lake with Perfect Reflections - Lago di Santa Caterina Italy 🇮🇹

The last and most beautiful lake of Italy on our trip. You can find this stunning lake near Auronzo in the heart of the Dolomites.

I arrived mid afternoon and was determined to get a swim in. I was drawn in by the deep shades of green and blue of the crystal clear water but I would be lying if I said it was warm. I think it took me 5 attempts to get in, each time edging further and further in until I could bring myself to go for a dunk!

I did make it in twice for a very short swim each time which lasted less than 15 seconds each time. But regardless I am proud and glad that I made it in and can say I have swam in this stunning location.

As its out of season the town was very quiet with no Cafe's open only one Gelato place but we didn't fancy ice cream for the first meal of the day. We’ve been loosely eating one meal a day on our travels to save money with the occasional Croissant for breakfast at a local cafe.

But we didn't mind a Van Hot Beverage and a snack it was whilst watching the afternoon fade into sunset.

There was a walk around the lake as well with a woodland in places surrounding. We heard Jays which have an abundant bird of our travels.

We woke in the morning and crossed a bridge on the lake where the most perfect reflection on the lake greeted us. I did take a photo of 3 Italians men on Holiday but realised after it was so zoomed in you barely saw the lake in the background – oops! I do make a habit of asking people of they would like their photo taken as I think it’s a lovely gesture to help out a stranger with a lovely memory – But maybe I should actually take more care with the photo’s ha ha!

I can easily imagine this lake in Summer being a popular spot, beautiful sun-kissed bodies everywhere, sipping on cocktails and feasting on the scenery and atmosphere. Weirdly, I hadn't seen it advertised as one of the main locations for some reason, unless it had just passed me by.
