Istanbul | Kuzguncuk, Istanbul's hidden location away from the chaos, you must see this cozy atmosphere!
Hello friends, today me and my friend went to a wonderful place which is located in the Asian side of Istanbul. It is a small neighborhood near Kadıköy called Kuzguncuk. The area is really colorful and I have a lot of things to say about it!
Since I couldn't decide which one would best describe Kuzguncuk among the photos I took, I wanted to show you Kuzguncuk's photo with this beautiful photos I found on the internet.
If you are planning to come to this neighborhood, I want to give you two tips:
- Arrive as early as possible (we arrived around 10am and there were very few people).
- Use public transport (Istanbul is a city of traffic and the public transport here is much faster than driving your own car).
The neighborhood itself is a big long street lined with beautiful colorful houses and cozy cafes and boutiques.
One of the main facilities in this neighborhood is the café-library. Here you can relax with a cup of fragrant coffee and enjoy reading in complete silence.
There is a large selection of books in Turkish and locals love to use this cafe as a workplace. It's quiet in the morning, very few people and the atmosphere of this cafe makes you want to work.
On the first floor there is a modern coffee machine and two cafe workers. They are very nice and friendly. We only went into this cafe for a photo and they kindly allowed us to do so.
The outside of the building looks very attractive. The outside decoration matches with the theme of the cafe-library. Such places always attract tourists and I am sure that closer to 12 o'clock the streets here are stuffed with tourists.
While walking through the streets you keep finding interesting things. That's how we found a beautiful retro car that was standing around a modern house. Such blends of retro and modern are quite common in Istanbul.
Just look at the cute security guard we had found! He was a very kind and well-mannered boy. He sat in his seat and looked at the people and cars around him. The sign said please do not feed the dog for his health. This is very nice of the owners. They allow the dog to be outside, but they are still concerned about his health.
This house is not on the main street, but since we really like to explore all the streets and alleys, we found this lovely house. It may look basic and ordinary in the photos, but in reality it is chic and beautiful. We took a few photos with my friend at this location.
You already know how much I love cats. No, I don't just love them. I adore them. And I adore the fact that there are so many cats in Istanbul! They're all different, but equally cute. Just look at these little guys, they live this life carefree, warming their little paws under the sun and waiting for tasty treats from the locals.
Walking further we discovered a stairway. We made the decision that we would climb to the very top. And going up the stairs we saw such beautiful colorful houses. By the way, on these houses hang signs with messages. Residents of these houses request to be quiet and to not disturb people.
We knew that when we got up to the top of the stairs we would see something incredible. And so we did. We were given an amazing view of the Bosphorus. White seagulls were flying over the sea, cars were rushing at high speed on the huge bridge. At the top, where we were, it was very quiet. We could hear the sounds of the cars, the steamer and the seagulls that were so far away from us. It was a real miracle. It was amazing.
Next we went back to the main street. Before coming to this area, I searched "where to go in Kuzguncuk?" and found a beautiful church. Its name is "Ayios Yeorgios Kilisesi." But, I didn't even pay attention to the church's schedule. It turned out that it was only open on Sundays. So we couldn't get inside. But the beautiful view from the main street was enough for us.
Store windows are still decorated with Christmas decorations. Although in Istanbul it is +15 degrees and winter is not felt at all, this decoration gives a hint that it is actually winter. Speaking about the weather - we have exactly one week left to enjoy the warm sunny days. The forecast is expecting rain, snow and sub-zero temps.
And of course, any walk with a friend should end in a cozy cafe with a cup of cappuccino. It's a tradition! This cafe was also on the "where to go" list, so we had to stand in line for 20 minutes before getting in here. But it was worth it!!! Just look at that mouthwatering croissant! I'll be honest, I've never tasted a more delicious croissant in my life. It had a delicate vanilla cream inside and almonds on top. I love when croissants are soft on the inside but have a crispy crust on the outside!
To my surprise, the prices here were very nice. For two coffees, two large croissants, and a vegetable quiche, we gave ~$20. For such a beautiful and cozy cafe with delicious coffee and pastries, it's not expensive at all!
The cafe also had a great range of French pastries and coffee. I love it when cafes and restaurants take care of their customers. For example, while my friend and I were standing and waiting for our turn, a kind waiter offered us to sit down next to the cafe and relax. It was very nice of him and it shows the good attitude of the cafe staff to their customers.
Our walk came to the end. Thank you for reading this post. I wish everyone a good mood and fun travels with friends! See you soon friends, bye-bye!

Anatolian side is mostly cosy than the European side ;)
Since everywhere in Istanbul is crowded, there is chaos in general, no matter which side you are on, but I think it is possible to find quiet places for both sides and spend time there. Thanks for stopping by✨
I can't breathe in European side, but Anatolian.

Heeii, Thank you so much. After such a tired walking we had to do such ending ))
Discovering hidden gems, such as the enchanting retro car and the delightful house tucked away from the main street, contributes to the sense of exploration in the narrative. The stairway unveiling a stunning view of the Bosphorus provides a delightful surprise, and your depiction of the tranquil atmosphere at the summit creates a vivid and picturesque scene.
I also like the color of car so muuuch🍇
I really like the cafe and the library. In my area, this place is very rare. And some buildings that have beautiful colors, when you see them, your mind calms down!!
I absolutely agree with you, just stopping and watching at such places mind-relaxing. Especially when there is no noise around, this pleasure is getting doubled
