Hay lugares de Bayamo que me atrapan cada vez que lo visito, y es que la Ciudad Monumento como muchos llaman posee sus propios encantos. Por ello, no pude dejar de visitar el Paseo Bayamés, la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción, y la Capilla de la Santísima Dolorosa, que en el anterior post les mostré.

Al levantarme tenía una idea rondando mi cabeza. ¿Hacia dónde caminaría esta vez? Podía ir al Museo Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, o trasladarme a la Finca La Demajagua. Lugar este, donde se inició la independencia, allá por octubre de 1868.

Pensándolo bien, decidí cambiar el rumbo, porque para llegar a este último lugar debía recorrer unos cuantos kilómetros, y me llevaría una hora y media de viaje. El espacio idóneo era el Museo de Cera, al cual podía ir caminando desde el Hotel Royalton donde me hospedaba.

Al caminar la ciudad pude apreciar una vez más, la belleza y limpieza de esta villa cubana fundada por Diego Velázquez. Años antes había visitado el museo, pero es de esos lugares acogedores a los que siempre debes regresar en cada viaje.

El museo está situado en el bulevar de Bayamo. Es el único en Cuba con estas características, y fue inaugurado en julio del 2004. Posee en su interior esculturas de personalidades, y figuras de aves y reptiles, todas modeladas en cera policromada.

Al cruzar el salón mis ojos se impresionaron. Cada una de ellas posee sus atuendos característicos, a tal punto que parecen reales. Muy parecidas a las estatuas vivientes que hay por las plazas, y calles de La Habana que pertenecen al grupo Giganterías. Realmente es un trabajo meritorio el que aquí se expone, donde el arte expresa su más alto nivel.

Según explicaron a la entrada, el cabello que usan en las piezas es natural, y los instrumentos musicales en el caso de los músicos son reales, no así los dientes, uñas y ojos que son trabajados con cera.

La primera figura cerca de la puerta es la de la poetisa matancera Carilda Oliver Labra, fallecida en el año 2018. Poseedora del Premio Nacional de Literatura 1997, de la cual he leído sus libros: Al sur de mi garganta y los huesos alumbrados.

Es increíble lo que me sucedió, pero al ver la pieza a la altura de su estatura natural, llegó a mi mente sus versos : Guárdame el tiempo, guárdamelo. Te lo pido con rabia, con ternura… como si estuviésemos conectadas en una misma lírica. No podía ser de otra forma, ella es un referente para los que escribimos poesía.

En la sala otra escultura de cera, la de nuestro Poeta Nacional Nicolás Guillén. Dentro de su obra podemos mencionar: Mis dos abuelos, Sóngoro Cosongo y Motivos del son canción.

Dentro de los próceres está la imagen de José Martí, Héroe Nacional de Cuba. Revolucionario que se destacó también como ensayista y poeta. Entre sus obras podemos leer La edad de oro, Versos sencillos, entre otras.

En la propia ala del salón encontré la figura del Padre de la Patria Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. Iniciador de las guerras por la independencia de Cuba.

Otras de las piezas del salón corresponden al cantante, compositor y tresero cubano:
Faustino Oramas Osorio, conocido artísticamente por todos como El Guayabero. Los que lo conocieron en vida saben que fue, y es considerado el rey del doble sentido. Su frase más distinguida era Santa palabra. Realmente fue un gran defensor de la música tropical, del son montuno., y entre sus obras destacan: Como vengo este año, Como baila Marieta y Ay, mamá.

Cada escultura viene acompañada de su foto, y una síntesis biográfica como esta que les muestro de la cantante y compositora cubana Celina González Zamora. Mujer que defendió con su voz la música campesina.

Recuerdo que, en mi infancia todos los domingo visitábamos a mi abuela materna, y no regresábamos a casa hasta que se acabara su programa Palmas y cañas. Toda la familia a esa hora, estaba frente al televisor.

En este post solo publico una muestra de las figuras que se exhiben en la galería, pero hay muchas más. Entre ella sobresalen las de los cantantes Compay Segundo, Bola de Nieve, y Benny Moré conocido por todos como el bárbaro del ritmo.

Espero que hayan disfrutado como yo de estas replicas creadas a partir de la cera de abejas por las manos de la familia Barrios. Para mí opinión son copias exactas de los personajes en los que se inspiraron.

Thinking well, I decided to change the course, because to get to this last place I had to travel a few kilometers, and it would take an hour and a half travel.The ideal space was the Wax Museum, to which I could walk from the Royalton hotel where I stayed.

When the city was walking, I could appreciate once again, the beauty and cleanliness of this Cuban village founded by Diego Velázquez.Years before I had visited the museum, but it is one of those welcoming places to which you should always return on each trip.

The museum is located on Bayamo Boulevard.He is the only one in Cuba with these characteristics, and was inaugurated in July 2004. He has personalities sculptures, and birds of birds and reptiles inside, all modeled in polychrome wax.

When crossing the living room my eyes were impressed.Each of them has its characteristic attire, to the point that they seem real.Very similar to the living statues that are for the squares, and streets of Havana that belong to the giantrías group.It really is a meritorious work that is exposed here, where art expresses its highest level.

As they explained to the entrance, the hair they use in the pieces is natural, and the musical instruments in the case of musicians are real, but not the teeth, nails and eyes that are worked with wax.

It is incredible what happened to me, but when I saw the piece at the height of his natural stature, his verses came to my mind: Guard me time, guide me.I ask you with rage, with tenderness ... as if we were connected in the same lyrical.It could not be otherwise, she is a reference for those who write poetry.

In the room another wax sculpture, that of our national poet Nicolás Guillén.Within his work we can mention: my two grandparents, Songoro Cosongo and motives of the Song Son.

I remember that, in my childhood every Sunday we visited my maternal grandmother, and we did not return home until their palms and reeds program was over.The whole family at that time was in front of the TV.
