Spectacular views in the Colonia Tovar
Colonia Tovar is a town located high in the mountains of the state of Aragua, Venezuela, this population has the particular characteristic that was founded by Germans in the nineteenth century, so its architecture, culture and customs are still in force. This is how this town became one of the most important tourist attractions in the region, it is normal to see visitors from different parts of the country walking through the streets trying to live a different experience in pure German style.
To get to Colonia Tovar from the place where I live, you have to go up the mountain on a road that can be complicated and dangerous, the car must be in perfect condition to withstand the steep ups and downs that constantly appear on the road. Before arriving at Colonia Tovar, we stopped at a restaurant for breakfast, there we enjoyed some delicious pastries and took the first pictures of the trip, the view from the top of the mountain is spectacular.

The church and the central square
The first thing tourists do when they arrive at Colonia Tovar is to go to the church San Martin de Tours and the central square, these structures perfectly embody the German architecture which is characterized by triangular red roofs and white walls with black lines, this is something that strikes visitors as it is a type of architecture that does not exist here, so being there can give the impression that you are in another country. As you can see in the photos, the church and the square are in a perfect state of maintenance, ideal for hanging out and resting after a walk.

Other places and viewpoints
Another attraction of Colonia Tovar is to walk through the different streets as we can find dozens of commercial establishments which offer traditional German food, different types of sausages, cookies, fruits such as strawberries, peaches and plums, as well as wines and beers. Enjoying German gastronomy intensifies the experience as it allows tourists to delve deeper into German culture.
Towards the outskirts of the most crowded area, we can find places where the view high up in the mountains is wonderful, you can see the houses down the hill which look beautiful with their red roofs which allow them to be seen from a distance.

To make the tour through the different areas of Colonia Tovar we had to pay a transfer service which had a cost of $ 8 per person, although it is true that we have a car, it is best that the tour is guided by someone who knows every street and attraction because it is easy to get lost in these small streets. The truth is that I lived a beautiful experience on this trip, Colonia Tovar is a magical place that offers a very different architectural and cultural alternative to that of this country and that is undoubtedly a great advantage.

Oh wow, seeing this post felt like being in Germany for real 😄. First, the green hills, covered with grass and then the German style of the buildings. I understand that this place is converted into a tourist attraction, the cost of $8 explains it... but for sure, it is worth opting for the guided visit!
Definitely the guided tour is essential, otherwise you would surely get lost among so many streets and hills. And yes, the resemblance with some of the landscapes of Germany makes you feel as if you were transported there 😄.
The view from the top is spectacular and you can tell it was built by Germans, that architecture is typical of them and unmistakable 😍 a beauty and to feel as if you were in Germany is great, I loved the photographs ❤️
It really feels like you are in Germany haha, but when they speak in Spanish then you come back to earth 😅.
A German colony in Venezuela is a beautiful place, I always remember the times I went and enjoyed with friends and family. Stunning shots @musicandreview

In summer, especially in places like this, we feel much more relaxed because it is cold here, the weather is nice, and the beauty of the mountains is something we don't see in cities, and seeing it in such a place is much more relaxing.
The weather was ideal for walking and hanging out, I definitely relaxed a lot.
La colonia tovar es hermosa, tuve la oportunidad de visitarla el año pasado y quede encantada, quisiera volver
Siempre es bueno volver, así que cuando tengas la oportunidad no lo dudes.
The name sounded familiar (because of Tovar) and I thought that I saw someone writing about it, but it looks like there are similarly named places in Venezuela...
After checking the photos, it does look a lot like some German cities, as I remember some of the photos from my uncle... Cities like Munich, Stuttgart, etc.
Thanks for sharing! It's a cool place for spending a vacation and relaxing! I like those types of small towns and villages...

The name Tovar has a certain fame here in Venezuela since there was a president with that surname. And yes, it seems that the architecture is very similar to that of some German cities or towns.
It was a pleasure to share, I had a wonderful time in this place.
Thank you for your support!
