The Bella Vista Waterfront Hotel on Langkawi - My worst experience in Asia

After the HiveFest in Kuala Lumpur we decided to stay longer in Asia! We said goodbye to everyone in KL and made our way back the Airport in Malaysia. From there we took an Air Asia Flight from KL to Langkawi - which was quite Cheap compared to other flights I already had. Arrived at the Airport we had over to the domestic flights section.

The flights was just around an hour and very relaxed. Not booked a seat since they need to carry me anyway. Arrived at Langkawi we had nice expectations :) I never been to Langkawi so far so everything can happen. We got our bags and booked a grab to the Hotel we together decided to stay for 2 nights. Roughly 45 minutes drive from the Airport to the Bella Vista Waterfront Hotel.

Arrived at the Hotel we checked in. Deposited 200 Ringit for safety... Lol. Then we went to the room, got in and the room just smelled very old and molding. Most likely from the Air-conditioning I guess. Went to the reception - told them the room stinks like hell... They sent a boy with air refreshing stuff... 4 times spray in the room and leaved... It was okay for now. Later we checked the room again and figured out, there were no cleaning under the bed for years.. god damnit. Additional the room looks very old and used anyways. Here some pictures of the room.

Sadly the entire Hotel Resort had their best years far far back and just looks like very old and ruined. After the first night the next day we decided to just walk around in Langkawi and exchange some Ringit And Euros to Thai Baht which we need on Koh Lipe later on. My Bro switched 14,000 Baht and we went back to the Hotel. He packed it back in his backpack and the we jumped in our swimming shorts to explore the nearby water park for a few hours. Which was a horrible experience as well. The Water Park as well is just old and not many people were there. The entry fee were free for the hotel guest's. Imagine why...

After spending roughly 2 hours at the Water park, had some refreshing in the Waves Pool we got back to the Hotel. The housekeeping was there and cleaned? The room! We had shower, switched clothes for later dinner but then @rivalzzz decided to double check the amount of Thai Baht he had. And well, what u guess? Yes. It's only 13,000 Baht left in the Backpack. We spent an hour to double and triple check everything but we're not able to find the missing 1,000 Baht. The Backpack was left open so it we're just easy to snagg a note from the backpack. I would not say it was the cleaning staff but imagine, the room was cleaned (haha, yeah good joke), bed was made and out of nowhere a note is missing. Well, we got to the reception and told them the case... They only replied our staff would not steal... And we have a safe at the reception where you can put the money and valuable things. Hm... Yea fuck off. We filled a formula in the case we want to have the police involved but we were there for holidays and writing down my stories is more worth than 1k Baht and trouble with the local police department.

...

We decided to have some Beers at the Pool Bar and later some more nice Asian Food in a Restaurant nearby the Hotel. The Best thing of the the Day and Stay.

Overall I can say, this was my most sad and bad experience while traveling around Asia. The shitty Hotel, the theft, the Island Langkawi... It just looked like it has not recoverd from the Covid Times. It's just sad.

Thanks for reading and may please not end up in that Hotel. Just my Story.

Very sad that someone has to steal cash from another persons belongings. The room we had in Mexico last year was a bit tired but nowhere as gross as that plus ours was cleaned meticulously every day.

Such a shame you have had a bad experience. Covid certainly broke a lot of places.

Excellent adventure! The park looks great, although it seems quite empty for a water park. I'm very sorry about the lost money. Thank you for sharing your story.

When we travel and discover new places, there can be unexpected ups and downs, but the experience of traveling itself is wonderful, as we get to know those places and various aspects of that culture.

Ah man, that sucks. A lot of the hotels in the US now have safes right in the room that you can program, but that still sucks. I feel like hotels in general have really gone downhill since Covid. They just don't clean them or anything as well as they used to.

Sorry for the loss of your money. I remembered that each time we have a staycation I always told my family that we would not leave behind our important staff especially money.
