The cute village Cabrerets in the Lot ~ France 🇫🇷 ~ plus little health update 🤕

IMG_9734.jpeg
Let me show you today the cute village of Cabrerets in the Lot department of southwestern France 🇫🇷
We stopped here on our travels back north for a break from driving, which included a drink and some ice cream on the first day of June this year.
We will walk from the parking area past the château (castle) and Le Moulin (mill) de Cabrerets. While we walk along the river le Célé.
Come along on this short walk with me today to discover this cute small village.

Little update about my health at the end, if you are curious why I haven’t posted much the last week… or just skip it if you don't want to know.

With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk #challenge. That is hosted by @tattoodjay every week on Wednesday.
‼️Have a look: Here in the Wednesday Walk Community if you want to join in!… the community is run by @tattoodjay
Look at his last #Wednesdaywalk post. It will tell you also the rules of joining in at the Wednesday walk posts 😁 come join us!

Today’s photographic selection will be of 15 PHOTOGRAPHS
Date : 1 June 2025
The Photographs in this post are taken with my iPhone.
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this walk to #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes.

Location of the village Cabrerets (Lot department) we find on the following screenshots of Google Maps :
IMG_6433.jpeg
As you can see the village is truly small…
Zooming out further we see its location in France:
IMG_6434.jpeg

Let’s start at the parking area. One can only stop here no overnight parking…
Our view is the first photo above 👆🏻 the château de Cabrerets. I will show more of it when we walk back later.
The walking path, read… walking along the road and a bit further a side road / path to wander right next to the river makes the walk easier.

We see walking towards the river down this sign:
IMG_9736.jpeg I really took the photo because of the hand. It looked cool. It has information on it from the Mill.

As we walk further we see part of this mill. Moulin de Cabrerets.
IMG_9737.jpeg

Peeking over the edge we see the water flow and arches of the mill.
IMG_6692.jpeg

The mill isn’t in operation anymore but the building looks stunning.
IMG_9738.jpeg

Our view to the left side of the mill along the river. The cliff side is stunning. All the trees and greenery that goes all the way to the water side.
IMG_9739.jpeg

Our view towards the right. We see the mill and a beach where one can sunbath and swim in the river. Some young children were playing in the river and sliding down a stone canal filled with water next to the waterfall. They had loads of fun… you see the exit far left in my photo. (Didn't want to capture the boys in the photo)
IMG_9740.jpeg

As we walk back up towards the main road I look back and see the château. Such a beautiful building.
IMG_9741.jpeg

Only a few cars passed us by this day. I can imagine it will be busier during holidays.
IMG_9742.jpeg

More information about the castle you can find here: Chateau de Cabrerets in English. Also here on Wikipedia: Chateau de Cabrerets.
IMG_9743.jpeg

Wandering further we see a bakery and a hotel with restaurant. We decided to go inside for a drink and some ice creams afterwards.
The view on the outside terrace at the back:
IMG_9744.jpeg Just stunning. It over looks the river high above. This is looking towards the left side. We see a swimming pool. It is an accommodation next to the hotel.

Zooming out a bit further. This is such a magical spot. High above the river. I can imagine when the sun shines it is even more beautiful.
IMG_9746.jpeg

On our way back towards the parking area. I spot this wooden elephant or is it a mammoth 🦣? On the side of a building. So cute. Great artwork.
IMG_9747.jpeg

Wandering further we are getting closer towards the castle again. I capture a few more photos.
IMG_9748.jpeg

If you are ever in this area. Do stop at this beautiful spot. A nice walk along the river gives you some highlights of the cute village of Cabrerets.
IMG_9749.jpeg

Little update…
I haven’t been feeling well at all since last week. At first I couldn’t really pinpoint why, and I thought I just was overworked restoring and painting the kitchen floor (sitting/ crouching down for 3 weeks on the floor) and doing other things that needed tackling around and in the cabin. Like packing boxes for our country move.
Maybe the stress got too much lately with the van being in the workshop for major repairs that we didn’t expected or even noticed. Definitely didn’t calculate for a bill that is going over €2k,- it will eat far into our moving country cost. 🫣
I got more tired and aching everywhere and my back was playing up big time too. (My back is my weak spot tbh.)
Keep in mind my health isn’t great to start with. I do have an autoimmune disease that reminds me everyday it is there. So my immune system is hardly working the last years, especially since Covid. I get very quickly something when somebody is sick around me and it takes weeks (4 to 6 weeks) to recover. Even just passing a stranger by in a store getting groceries can be enough for me to get ill.
Last Wednesday I started noticing my lymph nodes were swelling up and one in particular started to get painful. It grew and grew. Got red hot and about 7,5 cm long.
The next day it wasn’t looking good at all and finally Friday morning that lymph node/ gland decided to burst / rupture. 🤕 All within 3 days. It left a big hole… luckily I had a first aid kit to clean the wound and tend to it further.
Crazy to think a lymph node can actually burst. 😳 It is rare, but it can happen apparently. My body / immune system just couldn't handle it all anymore. So I am still taking it slowly as it did immobilise me for days. Luckily it looks like it is healing though, just very slowly. ❤️‍🩹
I just need to take it very slow and gently the next weeks. No renovating further sadly… so our timeline is shifting. Let’s see the next days… how it goes.

…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
Join me next time for more updates, adventures, #stories and photographs.
Even my own artworks, once in a while, will come by.
Thank you so much for looking, and reading.

Crikey, sorry to hear about the lymph glands. That must have been traumatic. I wasn't aware they could burst.

Thank you so much @deirdyweirdy 🤗 I didn't know either. It was rather traumatic and didn’t want to write about all the details.
Hope it heals up well, not sure that gland will ever function again though.
Have a lovely day.

Oh, I am sorry to hear about your health issues, and like you, I have never heard that a lymph node can actually burst. I hope it gets better. Take care, Jackie, take it easy if you can and slow down where you can.🤗

Thank you so much @mipiano 🤗 Crazy right… it scared me at first. I hope it all heals well and I get my energy back. I slowed down fully and will take it easy as I need to be fit for what is to come later in the year. Don’t want to overdo it now so I can’t do anything for a longer time.
Thanks!

I'm so sorry to hear you're ill. I really hope this next move will finally be the forever move. Then hopefully you can settle and live healthily and without stress.
Perhaps your illness is an allergic reaction to packing tape!!

Get well soon and be kind to yourself.

PS the Woolly mammoth art is possibly a nod to the prehistoric paintings that were found in a cave near there.

Thank you so much @nathen007 🤗
Let’s hope as it is time to settle and heal in many ways… and finally start my art again too.
Haha if only it was just the packing tape.

I will be kind to myself and take it easy. It is hard… but better heal up first than have more problems later. Thank you.

Yes, you might be right there. When I read your comment I thought. That’s it. There are caves there with paintings that depict exactly that. Mammoths 🦣
One day I must go back and check them out, the caves.

Oh my days @littlebee4 , I was wondering where you were, my initial thoughts were lost up near the perma frost in the artic!!!I had no idea about your health issues, you always seemed so upbeat, hard working , hard travelling witty and world wise. I hope you get over this bout soon, maybe it is Mother Nature telling one of her children to slow down, rest and renovate (yourself, not property!). Listen to our mother

see you about soon.

Aawww thank you so much @grindle 🤗
It almost looked like I was lost in the permafrost hahaha
It is always there and I wrote here and there about it before… but at the moment it fully knocked me down for a while. Normally… I know in time when to slow down, just not now and it caught up with me. Maybe it was all too much.
Let’s hope, thank you. I will take it slowly… as you say, mother nature is telling me something.
I shall listen to her. I have to, if I want or not.
All will be fine… 😘

Thank you so much. I appreciate it. The immune system is something that everybody needs… and sometimes people don’t realise that. Mine is fighting against me since I was 3.

Hi little 🐝

Your walks and adventures posts are always so enjoyable, love them... unfortunately I have very few free time to come and comment, too much stuff in my life to deal with...
I think you have a similar illness that has my ex-wife since she was 20 (she has now 57). She had iissues periodically with her lymph nodes and many times she needed surgery and chemotherapy. After all she's a fighter and although her body has its weaknesses her spirit is really strong and she keep pushing and living life at most all the time...
I'm sure you're strong too and wish you a complete recovery of your current health issues, just keep pushing and keeping up the spirit, my best wishes go over there.
🤗

Thank you so much, that is lovely to hear you enjoy them. A shame you can’t be around more/ as much as you want. I hope all the stuff you are dealing with will settle down a bit, giving you some more space to breath… so to speak.
Sorry to hear she has similar issues with her health. Good she keeps her spirit strong and looks forward and not back.
It is hard at times when your own body attacks yourself. I had this since I was very little in different form over the years too. Sometimes it is bad but there are also times it goes well.
Since Covid it (my health) did get worse and I do blame the injections and the many times I got sick (covid) from just being out, even quickly just to get groceries… some people didn’t think about other people around them with no immune systems…
I tried to protect myself but it doesn’t always work and I don’t want to lock myself up.
I do avoid large groups and places where lots of people are still and probably always will.
Thank you so much, will do.
Take care too.

That’s horrid, you must have felt utterly sick. Having a compromised immune system is something I’m familiar with with my renal health and medication that suppresses it.

Rest up. Get better. Things can wait.

Yep, and still. Not feeling that great. I am taking it easy though.
I read your posts about it and remember replying. How are you at the moment? Hope you are managing.

Sometimes it is not fair but one does need the immune system some don’t realise. Mine just attacks my body. Every day.
I am resting and taking it very slowly… I just need to give it time to heal up again. Everything else needs to wait, even moving.
Thank you!

Another beautiful tour, mais oui?
Restoration work always reveal more underlying issues, that I learn quickly.

I've been chronically ill since Covid as well but for a myriad of liver and gastro-instestinal issues effecting my energy and causing a constant background nausea. It had to be caused by the vaccine. Too many of my friends haven't been the same after. That's another story.
May God grace you with his healing power 🙏

I still have so many beautiful places and adventures to share… just a bit slower right now. And photos can wait until they will be shared.
Yes, they sure do.

I believe you right away as my health has been worse since the injections and Covid. More people that I know too. Even hubby, his arm hurts still regularly where he got the injection.
My immune system was attacking me since I was young but since Covid it is acting up more and differently. Sorry to hear that it affected you and people around you too in many ways.
Thank you so much, much appreciated. 🤗
May his healing power be with us all.

I loved how it was located. In a valley with cliffs all around. Pretty cool. So green too.
