Sea Walks and Sunsets – A Quiet Day in Istria
Medulin
There are days when I don’t need a detailed plan or a list of places to visit.
Days when a simple walk by the sea, good company and fresh air are more than enough.
This day was exactly like that – calm, unhurried and deeply enjoyable.
Our walk began in Medulin, along the seaside promenade near the camp.
Medulin is a small coastal town in southern Istria, once a fishing village, today a well-known tourist destination. Despite that, it has managed to keep a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable the moment you arrive.
📸

The promenade is perfect for slow walks.
The sea follows you the entire way, calm and open, while the sound of waves creates a natural rhythm that sets the pace. There is no reason to rush here. People walk, talk, stop to look at the horizon, and simply enjoy being outside.
Walking along the coast with family always feels special to me.
These are the moments that matter the most – easy conversations, shared silence, laughter, and the feeling of being fully present. No distractions, no rush, just time spent together.
📸

Medulin has a way of blending everyday life with tourism.
You see locals going about their day, boats gently rocking in the water, and visitors quietly enjoying the same views. The sea is not just scenery here – it is part of daily life and part of the town’s identity.
I always find something comforting in coastal walks like this.
Looking at the open sea helps put things into perspective. Problems feel smaller, thoughts slow down, and everything seems a little clearer.

After our walk in Medulin, we decided to continue the day with something I truly love – chasing sunsets.
There is something special about ending the day by the sea, watching the light slowly change and knowing that no two sunsets are ever the same.
Our next stop was Poreč.
📸

Poreč feels different from Medulin, but in the best possible way.
It is a town rich in history, shaped by centuries of life, culture and movement. As you walk through it, you can feel those layers everywhere – in the stone streets, the old buildings and the way the town opens toward the sea.
Poreč manages to balance its historical character with a lively coastal atmosphere.
It feels alive, but not overwhelming. Modern life and tradition exist side by side, creating a space that feels authentic and welcoming.
📸

As the afternoon slowly turned into evening, the atmosphere changed.
The light became softer, the air cooler, and everything seemed to slow down just a little.
We headed toward the coast, knowing that the sunset would be the highlight of the day.
📸

Sunsets by the sea never fail to impress me.
As the sun moved closer to the horizon, the sky filled with warm colours – shades of orange, gold and soft pink. The sea reflected those colours effortlessly, creating a peaceful and almost unreal scene.
People naturally slowed their steps.
Some stopped to take photos, others simply stood quietly, watching. It was one of those moments where you don’t feel the need to say much – the view speaks for itself.
📸

Standing there, I felt grateful.
Grateful for the place, for the people around me, and for moments like this that don’t require anything except your attention.
Experiences like this are what make Istria and the Croatian coast so special to me.
It’s not only about destinations or tourist attractions, but about simple moments – walks by the sea, time spent with family, and sunsets that stay with you long after the day ends.
📸

Poreč shows how tourism and local life can exist together without losing authenticity.
It offers beauty, history and atmosphere, while still feeling genuine and lived-in.
As evening settled in and the first lights appeared along the promenade, I realised once again why I love exploring places like this.
Not because they are far away or exotic, but because they invite you to slow down and truly experience them.
📸

Days like this remind me that meaningful experiences don’t have to be complicated.
Sometimes all you need is the sea, a good walk, and the right company.
Medulin and Poreč, each in their own way, represent what I appreciate most about coastal life in Istria – simplicity, beauty and a strong connection to the sea.
Do you enjoy slow walks by the coast and chasing sunsets, or is there a seaside town that always draws you back?

It’s a wonderful reminder that the best travel moments are often the simplest ones spent with family 😊 Thank you for sharing such a grateful and serene perspective
Thank you so much for your kind words 😊 I completely agree — those simple moments with family are truly the most meaningful.
Thank you for stopping by ❤️
A beautiful sunset, and I love the calm rhythm with which you talk about places and something as simple yet meaningful as being present. And if the company is close and familiar, all the better.
Medulin is lovely, but Poreč, with its views of boats and stone buildings in the background, is truly wonderful. 😀
I wish you a great day.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. I’m really glad the calm rhythm and sense of presence came through, those quiet, simple moments often mean the most.
I agree with you completely, Medulin has it’s own gentle charm, and Poreč truly is special with its boats, stone buildings, and timeless atmosphere.
