Cayo Sal, The ideal beach for some peace and quiet (ENG-ESP)

Venezuela is known for its beaches, and I understand why.

A few weeks ago, I was with my family in Cayo Sal, located in Falcón State. This beach is ideal if you want to relax listening to the sound of the sea under the shade.

We left from Valencia, which is about three hours from Falcón State. Let's say it's a privileged distance, because there are people who have to travel more than 10 hours to be able to reach a beach.

Venezuela es conocida por sus playas, y entiendo el porqué. Hace unas semanas estuve con mi familia en Cayo Sal, ubicado en el estado Falcón. Esta playa es ideal si lo que quieres es relajarte escuchando el sonido del mar bajo la sombra.

Salimos desde Valencia, que está a unas tres horas del estado Falcón. Digamos que es una distancia privilegiada, porque hay personas que deben viajar hasta más de 10 horas para poder estar en una playa.

That's what a lady from Táchira State told me. Táchira is in the Andean region, where obviously there's no sea, just mountains.

"The beach is far for us, but the trip is worth it," she told me with her Andean accent.

We talked for a while because she saw me taking photos. Usually, people ask me, "What are you taking pictures for?" but she just looked at me and smiled, saying, "What a beautiful beach, isn't it?"

I nodded and continued taking photos.

Eso me dijo una señora del estado Táchira, que está en la región andina, donde evidentemente no hay mar, sino pura montaña. “La playa nos queda lejos, pero el viaje vale la pena”, me dijo con su acento andino.

Hablamos un rato porque me vio tomando fotos. Generalmente, suelen preguntarme “¿para qué estás tomando fotos?”, pero ella solo me vio y sonrió diciéndome: “Qué playa tan bonita, ¿verdad?”. Yo asentí y seguí tomando fotos.

To get there, you have to take a boat in Chichiriviche, specifically at Playa del Norte (North Beach).

Luego fui a seguir recorriendo todo el cayo, que es pequeño y está rodeado de aguas cristalinas.

Bueno, había iniciado esta publicación cuando estábamos saliendo desde Valencia. Ok, prosigo… Para llegar hasta allá hay que tomar una lancha en Chichiriviche, específicamente en Playa Norte. El trayecto dura aproximadamente unos 15 minutos, tiempo suficiente para disfrutar del paisaje. Apenas llegas, ves a trabajadores dispuestos a ofrecer servicio de toldo, restaurantes, masajes, entre otros.

We rented an awning and chairs, but we also sat in a part where there were many palm trees, so the shade was more than just an awning.

Well, it's very important to me to stay cool, even at the beach, because the sun, wherever it is, is unbearable for me.

Well, the water temperature is ideal. Neither too cold nor too hot. It's perfect for spending a good amount of time in.

I brought my swimming goggles, so I took the opportunity to swim and submerge myself.

I saw big fish that would get scared as soon as they saw me. Furthermore, I also saw some jellyfish, but fortunately, they weren't poisonous.

Bueno, a mí me importa mucho estar fresco, así sea en la playa, porque el sol, sea donde sea, es insoportable para mí.

Bueno, la temperatura del agua es ideal. Ni muy fría ni muy caliente. Es perfecta para estar un buen rato. Me llevé mis gafas de natación, así que aproveché para nadar y sumergirme. Vi peces grandes que se espantaban apenas me veían. También vi unas medusas, pero por fortuna no eran venenosas.

In fact, in my ignorance, I took one out and carried it to the other end of the beach where there aren't people, because I didn't want to kill it or have it sting anyone.

Minutes later, I see another one, but a man tells me to relax because it wasn't poisonous. And to show me, he touched it. I did too, and well, here I am. It was slimy, though. I left it alone.

That's how we spent the rest of our time, since we knew they weren't dangerous.

After swimming, I went out to explore the beach to take photos.

I realized that this beach is very family-friendly compared to other nearby ones, where young and not-so-young people tend to go and play music at full volume.

De hecho, yo, en mi ignorancia, saqué una y la llevé al otro extremo de la playa donde no hay gente, porque no quería matarla ni tampoco que picara a alguien. Minutos más tarde veo otra, pero un señor me dice que estuviera tranquilo porque no era venenosa. Y para demostrármelo la tocó. Yo también lo hice, y pues aquí estoy. Era babosa, eso sí. La dejé tranquila.

Así pasamos el resto del rato, ya que sabíamos que no eran peligrosas. Después de nadar, salí a recorrer la playa para tomar fotos. Me di cuenta de que esta playa es muy familiar en comparación con otras aledañas, donde suelen ir jóvenes y no tan jóvenes a poner música a todo volumen.

I particularly don't like that; it's annoying and disrespectful to others, besides being a sign of a lack of consideration.

Also, there are people who drink and smoke in the water, so they throw their waste there.

Fortunately, Cayo Sal is the complete opposite. So I recommend it if you're looking for tranquility, and the only sound is that of the beach environment.

Particularmente no me gusta; es molesto y una falta de respeto hacia los demás, además de ser una muestra de falta de convivencia.

Aparte, hay personas que beben y fuman en el agua, por lo que arrojan desechos allí. Por fortuna, Cayo Sal es todo lo contrario. Así que la recomiendo si lo tuyo es estar en tranquilidad y que el único sonido sea el del ambiente playero.
