Sunrise at Flagler Beach Pier - 15 pics

avatar

So after 6 months of living here in Florida, I finally got up and drove in time to see the sunrise at Flagler Beach Pier. Yes, it was absolutely worth it. I was quite excited and took literally dozens and dozens of pics. You'll need to open post and scroll through to see them all..
Use full screen to view them for sure!

Not only a fantastic view, but the sounds, the sights of the waves, the birds. Just a wonderful morning that reminds me why we moved here. I took the pics with my new lens. It's the first time I've had this wide lens out, since I usually am usually out with the big zoom lens. These were all shot with the Sony 24-70 GMII lens on my Sony A7RIV camera. I am really liking this lens. It is so much lighter and nicer to carry than that big zoom. The additional low light capacity is also a welcome change. I'll definitely be using it more and more.

Some will be a little dark, the early pre-dawn was incredible in person. I didn't do any photoshop retouching on these, so while some could certainly be improved with a bit of brightness/contrast tweaking, I decided to just show them as-is for today. I hope you enjoy them a fraction of what I did taking them.

And then the Sun came....

And so begins another beautiful November day. I'll be hitting the water later this afternoon.

The Pier was damaged during storm last year and still awaiting repairs. Scheduled for later this year.

Haha, well there was one brave soul out there, but he wasn't doing very well. Very choppy. The red flag warnings were out, and while I did take the Body Board out with me later in the afternoon, I decided to hold off and just walked and waded the beach instead. Definitely need more skill and confidence building before I take those size waves on.

Thank you. It was early morning sunrise, but I can see how it looks like sunset as well. I suppose can't really tell from pictures.

Very nice! That's one of the things I love about living in Michigan, you get to see some awesome sunrises on the East side of the state and amazing sunsets on the west side and you can do it all in one day. Wonderful shots! Well worth getting up so early to catch them!

Thanks, I haven't tried going from one coast to the other here yet, but certainly do-able here as well with just a few hours drive. Looking forward to more mornings like this for sure.

Yeah, that is a good point. I wasn't even thinking of that in Florida, but it makes total sense!

The sunrise at Flagler Beach was beautiful and the photos show Steps book step by step. I think sunset photos would be better than sunrise photos there. Amazing photography

Thanks, we've driven by a few times at sunset/dark, but haven't done a longer night walk yet. I like to have a flashlight just in case, and they are frowned upon during turtle hatching season. That's almost over now I think so we'll be getting the O-lights out soon to play at the beach with them.
