Camiguin Part 3: Mantigue Island & Ardent Hot Spring
You know that feeling when you're on the last day of vacation? I'm already dreading going back to work and the routine of everyday life. That feeling of sadness and disappointment that the vacation is coming to an end, and at the same time, having a feeling of satisfaction or contentment from having enjoyed the vacation to the fullest.
Our 3-day, 2-night vacation almost concluded, yet I am still in disbelief. Not having to think about work for three days is not enough for me. LOL.
Our last day on the island started at first light. We were planning to go to a small island just off the shore of the main island of Camiguin, Mantigue Island.
If you haven't read the first and second parts, please check the links below.

Camiguin Part 2: Conquering Mount Hibok-Hibok
Mantigue Island
Mantigue Island is a small, picturesque island located 3.5km off the coast of Camiguin Island in the Philippines. The island is known for its beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs.
It is a popular destination for swimming, snorkeling, and diving, where visitors can explore the diverse marine life and enjoy the stunning underwater scenery.
How to get there
The best way to get there from your accommodation on the main island of Camiguin is to hail a tricycle or rent a motorcycle going to San Roque port in Mahinog and from there, you can take a boat going to Mantigue Island.
Alternatively, there are also public transportation options like tricycles and vans going around the island.
At the port, you will see a small tourism office where you can book a boat ticket to the island.
There are also additional fees such as the Environmental Fee and Snorkeling fee. If you want to borrow a mask and snorkel gear, you can rent them from the port for a minimal fee.
What to expect
Once you arrive on the island, there are huts that can be rented for a fee. It is really advisable to rent because the heat of the sun could be so extreme, especially during the afternoon.
After putting our things aside, we immediately dipped into the crystal-clear water of the island.
There is also a large "I ❤️ Mantigue" sign on the beach if you want to take pictures with it.

We did not rush since this is our last day, and we have no other spots on our itinerary aside from Ardent Spring.

We tried snorkeling a few meters from the shore, and you will be amazed by its beauty underneath. There are a lot of colorful fish and large and vibrant corals. It was just sad because I did not take a picture underwater since I'm afraid my camera will get damaged by sea water.
But here are some sample snapshots from my friend's camera.
Ardent Hot Spring
Ardent Hot Spring is a popular tourist attraction located on the island of Camiguin in the Philippines. It is a natural hot spring heated by the nearby Mount Hibok-Hibok volcano, which is still considered active. The water is said to have therapeutic properties, and visitors come to relax and soak in the warm waters. The area is surrounded by lush greenery, and there are several pools of varying temperatures, as well as picnic tables and huts for visitors to use. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Camiguin, Ardent Hot Spring is definitely worth a visit.
How to get there
It is about a 11-minute drive or 5.3 kilometers from our accommodation in Mambajao, Camiguin. It is a perfect way to end a hike from Mt. Hibok-hibok and heal those muscle pains.
What to expect
As mentioned earlier, these hot springs are located at the foot of Mt. Hibok-hibok. It is a man-made pool surrounded by nature. The water cascades from the top going down into four different pools. We tried all four, but we decided to stay on the part near a bridge. I am not sure which pool it was. LOL.

We left the place feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
Back to reality
Going back to our accommodation, we packed our things and got ready to go to the airport. We left the place with a heavy heart (charez!).
I promised myself to go back there again soon and bring my other set of friends to experience what I had experienced.

After our trip to Camiguin, I realized that the memories and experiences we shared were truly special. By exploring a beautiful new place together, we created lasting memories that we will treasure for years to come. By going on adventures and spending time together, we also strengthened our friendship and deepened our bond. It was just one of many adventures we will share together, and I look forward to creating countless unforgettable memories with my friends in the years to come.
