A Day In The UNESCO Village Of Hollókő: Hungary’s Living Museum, Winding Roads and Stone Streets.

There’s something special about road trips —our freedom of self-guided journey, lost in the beauty of surrounding and following the call of curiosity. Last Saturday weekend, we were in Hungary and he knew a place to visit, a UNESCO World Heritage in Hollókő village in Hungary. It is known for its fairytale-like atmosphere and preserved traditional houses.

The drive from Nagy-kilátó to Hollókő was beautiful. We were having a full-on car karaoke session, sharing our chips and chatting. Our simplest moments with my best company. Entering the heart of the countryside and the scenery began to shift — rolling hills, golden fields, and clusters of tiny villages. The scene was a breath of fresh air for our soul.

When we finally arrived, as soon as we arrived, two very different things that caught our eye set the mood perfectly!. We spotted a cool witch riding her broomstick. She was perfectly dressed and ready for spooky season. The beautiful autumn decor with pumpkins and dried stalks made the rustic wooden well look beautiful. A perfect way to welcome us to Hollókő!

Our first move was to leave the car in the parking area, with my phone ready, we were totally ready and excited to explore the charming village. Hollókő offered timeless beauty. And everywhere we looked revealed a traditional houses, cobblestone roads, wooden fences adorned with colorful flowers.
We took our time by walking slowly and each step through Hollókő carried a sense of serenity and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Each turn revealed another picture-perfect scene. During our walk, we found a rustic design and a traditional wooden merry-go-round that instantly gives a nostalgic charm. We noticed the quaint chapel on a grassy hill was strikingly simple and added to the village’s timeless beauty.

We visited a small museum that offered a stunning look at the village's heritage. The beautiful embroidered garments and the artistry is still alive.

Christmas is coming! You can buy gifts for your special someone or decorations. I just brough homemade pens for kids. Actually its not for them, its a gift for their friend. I forgot to take a photo of it and it was so cool.
Handcrafted wooden goods.

And I'm a huge fan of spicy variety and I resist to try it. Aya don't like cheese. My husband and Zoe picked the garlic one. And honestly, the garlice cheese standout. It was even nore tasteful and delicious. I don't even feel the spiciness in the cheese. But it was ok, better to try so I will now if its good.

One thing tha that was beautiful in the village, there are life size doll dressed in traditional Hungarian attire. Adding like an authentic countryside vibes. Every detail like this in the village of Hollókő so special. keeps there tradition, creativity and added charm in the place.
Note: Just the two life-size doll ladies for the costume and others for Halloween. 🫢☺️

Posta.
As our day in the village comes to an end, it was a glimpse into Hungarian culture that they are proud to its roots. And its a living museum to welcome travelers wit open hearts. Trip is not always on modern places but also be found by being simple and preserved their culture and tradition, like in the small village of Hollókő. It's an intimate walking and sightseeing experience. Thanks to my husband for the roadtrip experience, we felt grateful and peaceful in our trip.
