Pozo Azul, a magical well in the state of Cojedes, Venezuela [ENG-SPA]

Hoy quiero contarles de un lugar que visité recientemente y el cual deben conocer todos en mi blog. Ese lugar se llama "Pozo Azul", ubicado en el Estado Yaracuy específicamente en el Parque Nacional Tirgua, aunque se suele llegar desde Tinaquillo, en el Estado Cojedes, ya que el lugar se ubica entre los límites de ambos estados.

Today I want to tell you about a place I visited recently that everyone should know about on my blog. The place is called “Pozo Azul,” located in Yaracuy State, specifically in Tirgua National Park, although it’s usually accessed from Tinaquillo in Cojedes State, since the site lies on the border between the two states.

La ruta hacia Pozo Azul son unos 6-7 km desde el sector La Pica, con un senderismo de dificultad media, media-alta ya que la ruta cruza riachuelos, montañas y vegetación densa característica de la zona, por lo que se recomienda ir a primeras horas de la mañana cuando el sol no es tan fuerte y el calor es soportable.

The route to Pozo Azul is about 6–7 km from the La Pica area, with a hike of moderate to high difficulty, as the trail crosses streams, mountains, and the dense vegetation characteristic of the area. Therefore, it’s recommended to go early in the morning when the sun isn’t so strong and the heat is bearable.

La dificultad de la ruta no es nada en comparación con la recompensa de admirar esta maravilla natural y bañarse en su refrescante (y bastante fría) agua cristalina de colores turquesas claros... Este lugar es simplemente mágico, rodeado de grandes árboles, animales de la zona por doquier, el viento meciendo los árboles y el sonido del agua corriendo y abriéndose paso, son tan solo algunas de las bondades de este pozo de agua.

The difficulty of the route is nothing compared to the reward of admiring this natural wonder and bathing in its refreshing (and quite cold) crystal-clear water of light turquoise hues... This place is simply magical, surrounded by large trees, local wildlife everywhere, the wind rustling through the trees, and the sound of water rushing and carving its way through—these are just some of the delights of this waterhole.

Al ser una zona alejada es recomendable llevar todos los implementos que vayan a usar, desde alimentos hasta repelente para insectos y artículos personales, es importante también llevar bolsas para recoger la basura y llevarla de vuelta ya que se debe mantener el área limpia. También es importante siempre ir acompañados porque es una zona de difícil acceso sin señal telefónica, siempre con prudencia y mantener el respeto por la naturaleza en todo momento sin dejar de disfrutar de sus bondades.

Since this is a remote area, it’s advisable to bring everything you’ll need, from food to insect repellent and personal items. It’s also important to bring bags to collect your trash and take it back with you, as the area must be kept clean. It’s also important to always go with someone else because it’s a hard-to-reach area with no cell service. Always exercise caution and respect nature at all times while still enjoying its beauty.

Si a ustedes no les gusta caminar pueden optar por pagar alrededor de 5$ para que un caballo o incluso un burro los lleve por todo el trayecto, de igual forma será una experiencia divertida que vale totalmente la pena, importante no olvidar el protector solar y llevar las mejores vibras y energías, les aseguro que lo pasarán super bien.

If you don’t like walking, you can choose to pay around $5 to have a horse or even a donkey take you the whole way. It will still be a fun experience that’s totally worth it. Don’t forget your sunscreen, and bring your best vibes and energy—I assure you, you’ll have a great time.

Otro dato es que al pozo a veces van equipos de senderismo y rapel, si tienen suerte pueden pagar el servicio y hacer rapel por la cascada del pozo. A esta cascada se puede subir rodeando el pozo, pero es un sendero sumamente difícil donde incluso hay caminos muy verticales para seguir subiendo hacia la cascada, por lo que no se recomienda subir si no es acompañado y con personas que tengan experiencia.

Another thing to note is that hiking and rappelling groups sometimes visit the pool. If you’re lucky, you can pay for the service and rappel down the waterfall. You can climb up to this waterfall by circling the pool, but it’s an extremely difficult trail with some very steep sections to continue climbing toward the waterfall, so it’s not recommended to climb unless you’re accompanied by experienced people.

Les cuento que yo tuve suerte y pude subir hasta la naciente de la cascada e incluso más allá hasta los riachuelos que la alimentan, en este lugar no hay personas por lo que la magia del lugar se siente aún más a flor de piel, los sonidos de la naturaleza aquí retumban y son tu única compañía, una experiencia 10/10.

I’ll tell you that I was lucky and was able to hike all the way up to the waterfall’s source and even further to the streams that feed it. There are no people in this spot, so the magic of the place feels even more palpable; the sounds of nature echo here and are your only company—a 10/10 experience.
