The southern part of the Montalbán Valley is almost always a good place to explore and immerse yourself in the landscapes and rural roads that lead away from the town and cross through lands dedicated to agriculture and raising farm animals...

El Sur del valle de Montalbán es casi siempre un buen lugar para explorar y sumergirse en los paisajes y caminos rurales que se alejan del pueblo y cruzan a través de tierras dedicadas a la agricultura y a la cría de animales de granja...

These are the areas known as "Agua de Obispo" (perhaps the most official and commonly used name, but within this route there are also places that locals call "El Pico," "Bucarito," and "Las Cañadas," because if there's one thing the people of this town are known for, it's never quite agreeing on what to call a place. And that's how they end up confusing those who aren't from here and happen to come to these lands to run errands or deliver supplies... 😂

Estos son los lugares y del área llamada "Agua de Obispo" (quizás el nombre más oficial y usado, pero también dentro de este recorrido hay lugares los cuales las personas locales acostumbran llamar "El Pico", "Bucarito" y "Las Cañadas", porque sí algo tiene la gente de este pueblo, es que nunca se ponen suficientemente de acuerdo en como llamar a un lugar. Y es así como terminan confundiendo a aquellos que no son de aquí y por ventura tienen que venir a estas tierras a cumplir alguna diligencia o hacer entregas de insumos... 😂

But this is miscellaneous, and if you will, it's more like part of the local folklore... And the important thing here is that these lands, their landscape, I mean, have changed very little in the last fifty or sixty years (since the construction of the road for motor vehicles, which was the last truly significant change) and this creates a wonderful bucolic atmosphere here and—of course—makes for excellent photo opportunities...

And also, as in all my valley, little stories unfold. Like what happened to me that day when I took this route, and a cheerful—and intelligent-looking—horse appeared at the fence on my friend "Pancho's" land and began making movements and sounds as if trying to get my attention, even following me along the fence, as if watching me in a friendly way...

Pero esto es misceláneo, y si se quiere es más bien parte del folclore popular... Y lo importante aquí es que estas tierras, su paisaje quiero decir, ha cambiado muy poco en los últimos cincuenta o sesenta años (desde que se construyó el camino para vehículos automotores, el cual fue el ultimo cambio realmente relevante) y esto hace que aquí se respire un aire bucólico maravilloso y -por supuesto- se puedan hacer excelentes fotos...

Y también, como en todo mi valle, hay pequeñas historias ocurriendo. Como me pasó ese día en el cual hice este recorrido, y un alegre -y con mirada inteligente- caballo apareció en la empalizada de las tierras de mi amigo "Pancho" y comenzó a hacer movimientos y sonidos como queriendo llamara la atención, llegando incluso a perseguirme por el camino a lo largo de la empalizada, como vigilándome de manera simpática...

And it turns out that this beautiful animal is called "Amistoso" (Friendly), and I found out precisely because my friend Pancho appeared on his motorcycle and, laughing, said to me: "I see that Amistoso is bothering you a bit," and then added: "He likes to follow people, and some say he can almost talk" 😄... I couldn't help but laugh, because that animal really did have an almost human demeanor, and that name... The name "Friendly" actually seemed to suit him very well...

Y resulta que ese precioso animal se llama "Amistoso" y lo supe precisamente porque mi amigo Pancho apareció en su motocicleta y riéndome me dijo: "Veo que amistoso te está acosando un poco" y luego agregó: "Le gusta seguir a las personas y algunos dicen que casi puede hablar" 😄... Yo no pude más que reírme, pues aquel animal en realidad tenía una actitud casi humana y ese nombre de "Amistoso" en realidad parecía quedarle muy bien...

But, aside from my friend Pancho and that horse named "Friendly," the truth was that almost my entire time there that day was filled with solitude and silence. And all of that was very good, because it allowed me to consciously observe my surroundings and record much of what happens there, to bring it to you today here on #Hive...

Pero, aparte de mi amigo Pancho y ese caballo llamado "Amistoso", lo cierto fue que casi todo mi recorrido allí ese día, estubo repleto de soledad y silencio. Y todo eso fue muy bueno, porque me permitió observar a consciencia el entorno y registrar mucho de lo que allí sucede, para traerlo hoy a ustedes aquí en #Hive...
