Discovering tradition at a Banat salas near Idvor in Serbia
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing great! Last weekend I visited Banat salas with my family. Before we went to this place, we visited some historical sights of the small town of Idvor, which I will write about in my next posts. Idvor is located in Vojvodina, a province in the north of Serbia.
Before entering the town, if you want to eat something delicious from this region, Banat salas is the ideal place. That's why we went there on the recommendation of a wonderful lady we met in Idvor.
What makes this place special is the sense of heritage it carries. These farms that we call "salas" were once the backbone of rural life in the Banat region, and there are many of them that have been preserved and turned into an attractive gastronomic tourist spot.
The Banat salas has a lovely yard, perfect for enjoying the outdoors in the sunshine, but this time there was a bit of wind, so we had to go inside because the kids had recently been sick.
The atmosphere inside is warm and pleasant, and you can see many authentic items that reflect the traditional way of life.
Vojvodina's vast plains soothe me and I enjoy looking at them.
And the best part was the delicious food. The must try here is the goose soup.
My daughter especially liked it. We had fish soup and zander, freshly caught from the Tamis river.
And in the end, we enjoyed a tasty local dessert: noodles with poppy seeds, a traditional treat in this region.
Banat is a unique region in northern Serbia and is known for its wide, flat landscapes, fertile soil, warm hospitality of its people and delicious food. What makes it truly special is also its cultural diversity. Over the centuries, it has been home to Serbs, Hungarians, Romanians, Germans, Slovaks, and others. All of them have left their mark on its tradition and you can notice and feel that there.
If you're ever near Idvor or anywhere in Banat, take the time to visit Banat salas. It's simple and there is nothing special to see, but you will feel the Banat's soul there. 😊
Thank you for reading.

Yes, I do.Your pictures convey the right message.
Going to Banat salas with family sounds wonderful. It's interesting that you show us the historical site while you're having meals, and that Goose soup is definitely a must-try. And the noodles with poppy seeds (what are poppy seeds?).. It sounds interesting.
We had a great time there. Poppy seeds are small, oil-rich seeds that come from the poppy plant. They are commonly used in baking and cooking 😊
Your photos are beautiful 👏👏👏👏and can be deleted. Of course, I suggest you also see my last post: The beach of an island with amazing photos.

I love how the photos really show the vibe of Banat salas — especially that dessert, it looks sooo good
The dessert was perfect! 😊 I remember that taste every day 😊
Prelepo izgleda, uživao sam čitajući. Verujem da je hrana ukusna, na slikama izgleda neverovatno. Planirao sam da idem negde po Srbiji. Dala si mi odličnu ideju. Hvala😊
