London: The City at Christmas!

Hello people and pinmapplers!

We are in those magical days of the year when every corner and place we look at is decorated, bright and beautiful, everything looks different and special. And if we have the opportunity to go to other cities we can also enjoy that atmosphere, specifically in some of them Christmas is lived intensely, and surely one of them is London.

And I have had the opportunity to spend Christmas in London in the past, and since we are again on these festive dates I wanted to share those sensations and the trip with all of you. Because London is already a fascinating city to visit at any time, we will share more about the city with another perspective, but now what inspires us is Christmas, and London is a great place to enjoy these days.

First you have to do some classic tourism, that is, although you already knew the city, you have to go to the relevant points so we can't stop looking up and seeing the quintessential icon of the British city, the Big Ben. And while we look at that giant tower clock and check the time, also nearby we visit the majestic Westminster Abbey where so many official events have taken place and we will have seen on television. Well, its architecture, arches, stained glass windows and facades are spectacular.

There are also markets and places to shop like the one in the famous Camdem Town area, or the more central and now Christmassy Convent Garden, all now with a different atmosphere and with many more people, if that is possible...

Among all that hubbub, we took a break to have a drink and even the coffee and carrot cake look endearing with the moment. And so we continue forward with enthusiasm and seeing more beautiful things. Because everything looks beautiful and even we listen to Christmas carol songs in a window! And we feel like children (even when we get into a bank) jaja

But it is also hard because in the central shopping streets at certain peak hours, now during Christmas it's crazy because the sidewalks are packed with people, there are almost moments when you can't move forward but nothing happens, we enjoy everything, and that way we have time to see the decorations and lights that adorn all the streets now that they are turned on everything looks great.

We walk through the streets, see shop windows, browse cafes and other businesses, everything is beautiful. But maybe you have to leave other things to see the next day, because there is so much...

We wake up, a sunny day, good, so let's continue again with the tourist route through another peculiar and emblematic neighborhood, Nothing Hill, and others nearby, curious streets and colorful facades. Others later on are different, typical establishments from another time, elegant and classic, there is a great variety...

And as it could not be otherwise, we came across one of those famous red telephone booths, which now seem like a representative icon, a small sculptural monument from the past more than a practical element of communication, but they maintain their charm.

We also look up again to a great dome of Saint Paul's Church, and from there to another unmissable place, the Tower of London, and that famous and unmistakable bridge, the London's Bridge, which is now seen through the haze of that cold humidity of the tomorrow, because it's cold there near the River Thames. But again we achieved a classic image of the city of London.

And can't miss the Sherlock Holmes shop museum! And speaking about museums still a bit of time to visit some of the remarkable museums of the city, like the British Museum, where we find ancient pieces that the English have been stealing for centuries, they have them there and we see them there. Many and from different origins: Egypt, Babylon, Greece, Rome, etc. Yes, many interesting things but this time with shopping (not much in Harrods, look the price of the bottle!) and dinner and so on, etc. we have much more left...

But we finish this quick Christmas route, in a relaxed way, we also enjoyed many other things and places, despite it being winter, the open spaces near the river and the magnificent parks in the city, where we breathed a little calm there, and we met a squirrel to whom we commented how pretty the city of London is at Christmas.
