Gdańsk, the most beautiful city on the Baltic Sea in Poland.

Hello everyone. Today I will write to you about one of the most beautiful cities in my opinion, Gdańsk, in the north of Poland on the Baltic Sea. As I was enchanted by Wrocław, so is this city, I don't know which one is more beautiful.To start with, I can tell you that Gdańsk is known for its rich architecture, as the world capital of amber, and as the place where the Second World War began.I arrived in the city by train and very quickly found myself in the old town. The city has a rich history—something I really enjoy exploring—but I will give you a brief overview as we tour the city.As you may have noticed, I love photographing the city from a viewpoint or a church tower; however, to do so this time, I had to climb 409 steps in Europe's largest church—St. Mary's Church, which can accommodate 25,000 people. A tourist told me that I could also get a great view of the city from the ship Sołdek.Gdańsk was 90 percent destroyed during World War II and subsequently rebuilt—not according to old blueprints like Warsaw, but in a modern style featuring beautiful houses and facades. I once read that it was even dubbed the "City of Gingerbread."
My tour began along the embankment by the Vltava River.The promenade by the river is full of restaurants, souvenir shops and beautiful boats. There is also the largest port crane in medieval Europe, driven by human power with large wooden wheels. It was used for loading goods and raising the mast.My attention was also drawn to a 17th-century galley that can take us to Waterloo Island, where the Second World War began.

Returning from the quay, I passed through the green gate and headed towards the city center.More precisely, from the square known as Long Square or Long Street.Here are the most beautiful houses, all the details and the result of a renovation that really spared no expense.The most beautiful street in the city is Mariacka. It is lined with traditional residential buildings, galleries selling amber and cozy cafes.

One of the most photographed attractions in the center is the Neptune fountain on Dugi trg, built in the 17th century and dedicated to the god who is a symbol of the city's maritime power. The entire square is surrounded by sumptuous city palaces, and a part of the sumptuous Christmas market is also held there.

Of course, the inevitable attraction is the church of St. Mary, which I mentioned at the beginning – the one whose tower offers a wonderful view and countless small, charming bars, streets and squares. The city is very lively at night and has a lot of fun for young people.

I visited a couple more museums, but I think I can write about them in another post, as they are definitely worth reading about and seeing the photos—and I took quite a few of them myself.
