My Lonavala trip 🗻❤️

In one of my previous blogs, I mentioned how a work trip lead to Mumbai darshan, and after we wrapped up, we found one free day waiting for us. If Maharashtra is on your mind, trust me, there’s no time better than the monsoon. The Western Ghats, also called Sahyadri, look nothing less than a dream, fresh, green, and wrapped in mist that makes everything feel new.

So we didn’t overthink it. We said Lonavala and stuck to it. Last‑minute plans are always the best. We booked a cab, set an early alarm, and hit the road early. Lonavala is about 2–3 hours from Mumbai. As we left for Lonavala, hills rolled out on both sides, with thin waterfalls and clouds over the Sahyadri. What a beauty it was.

We reached by late morning and checked into a cozy Airbnb. The plan was simple: rest, chai, and rain. The breeze felt cool, the windows carried that earthy smell after a shower. Sometimes doing nothing in the monsoon feels like doing everything right.

The next morning, we left early for the touristy spots, starting with Tiger’s Point. Every few minutes, the light changed, the mist rolled in and out, and the hills kept surprising us with new little streams and hidden falls.

Lonavala in the rains is pure poetry. The hills wear layers of green, the rocks shine, and even the silence hums with life. We drove slowly, stopped often, and let the weather guide the day. Hot vada pav, a bag of chikki in the backpack, everything tasted better in that cool, misty air.

We had an evening flight from Mumbai, so we rushed back to Mumbai in the late afternoon.

Last‑minute plans really do make the happiest stories. And honestly, when the Sahyadri looks this dreamy, how can anyone miss it?
