Wawel Castle, too beautiful!!

Wawel Castle is definitely one of Krakow's most important attractions. It's a bit complicated to visit this place. More than anything, there isn't a single ticket to visit it, but there's a whole series of tickets. But I'll leave you everything below at the bottom of this post so you can understand and think carefully about what to visit. I bought the ticket to visit the first and second floors, which are the royal apartments. In my opinion, they're the most important part of the Castle, and a visit to this area definitely can't be missed. In combination with this ticket, you can also visit the Royal Gardens, which are these small gardens that can be visited in about half an hour.

The castle stands on Wawel Hill and dominates the Vistula River. It is very well kept, but in fact, included in the entrance ticket is a small exhibition where they explain all the work that has been done to restore this important castle, and how much it reflects the national identity and has become the symbol of the national unity of all of Poland.

Naturally, many Italian architects have worked on this castle because it was rebuilt compared to the original in Renaissance style, becoming one of the most important and splendid palaces in Europe. Unfortunately, during the Austrian occupation it had been transformed into a barracks and fortress, and therefore had been greatly modified compared to the original, but fortunately during the restoration it returned to how it once was, and it was even possible to see archaeologists who are still working behind this castle, because the work is not yet finished.
Indeed, I was able to understand why it reflects Polish national unity, precisely because the restoration, which lasted several years, was financed by many people.

Inside, there is the cathedral which can be visited separately and which unfortunately I was unable to visit due to time constraints. But in addition to the apartments on the first and second floors, on Monday I returned to also visit the castle's underground. But I will tell you about this in another post.

I must say that the visit as private officials of sovereigns being able to see the historical furnishings, decorated ceilings, paintings and numerous art objects, I was very impressed. I was also able to admire the many tapestries that were commissioned by Sigismondo II Augusto and they say that it is one of the most important collections in all of Europe, and I must say that they are well kept.

I hope you can also visit this Castle, which remains one of the most important monuments of Krakow but also of Poland itself. Below I leave you some useful information for a future visit, but I'll see you in the next post because my story doesn't end here.
