Come and visit the town of Uspallata, an Andean jewel in the Argentinean Cordillera
Hello my dear friends of Pinmapple, this time I come to share with you a special place, which is the town of Uspallata. A few days ago I had to pass through here to get to Cerro 7 Colores, and then, in another trip, I was again in this place to get to Puente del Inca.
It is a place of passage through which to access different points of the mountain range, you have to pass unfailingly. The same happens with other localities such as Potrerillos for example.
On this occasion, we were going early and we also had to refuel and buy cold cuts to make sandwiches, so we stopped in Uspallata and while my friend smoked a cigarette, I, who do not smoke, decided to go out and walk the streets of the picturesque downtown, which weeks before had caught my attention (due to lack of time, I could not enjoy those nice little streets).

What is Uspallata like?
It is a small town, but the truth is that it is bigger than other towns in the area. It is a point in which different services are agglomerated, such as education, health and especially hotels, because of its beauty and proximity to other mountain tourist spots, it becomes a strategic anchorage for those who visit the city of Mendoza and even for those who come for a few days to the neighboring country, Chile.
Uspallata is located in a valley. The road there is full of mountains and suddenly, you start to see an urbanization that seems to be in a plain, but no, the truth is that it is just over 2000 meters above sea level.
From the small center of the city, you can see the imposing mountains that surround this urban center, and the passage of trees that extends in a linear way, following the main roads.
Art sprouts from its walls, literally, since there are murals made with extreme delicacy and originality, while the town itself provides a sense of visual harmony in terms of art.
What to find in Uspallata and what are its attractions?
This place offers from gas station to lodging, it also has a tourist center, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, banks, schools. You can live here peacefully, as well as have a nice getaway.
It is close to Potrerillos, Cacheuta, Penitentes, Puente del Inca, and all these are places that can be visited in one day, so if you optimize your time well, in two days, you can visit several places.

To be considered
First of all, any traveler from Mendoza and the Cuban region will warn you to always keep Uspallata in mind when crossing the Andes Mountains. This place, which has everything a person needs, can be of great help when you need to solve technical problems in the car or to make a night (sleep that night in a hotel) in case of a long trip.
Another important thing to consider is that due to the altitude, the temperature tends to drop, so I recommend taking a coat, even in summer. In the winter season the weather becomes windy and even this place receives snowfalls mainly between June and August.
The local people are extremely friendly and are always willing to lend a hand to tourists. In fact, this is a town that has expanded thanks to tourism, both local, national and international.

Beautiful Uspallate. there is a road, over the pre-cordillera from Las Heras to Uspallate that I once walked in two long days, sharing it only with Guanacos. Pumas found me too skinny to bother with.

Wow!! Thank you very much!!! 😊
I like all the Mural art in Uspallata town. I think there are many artists there. The gradient of color is very nice and eye catching.
Great post, thanks for sharing
Thank you!! I’m glad you like the mural, and yes, there are many artists over there!
If the place is at 2000m then how big are those mountains? They must be above 5000m? It must be a great starting point. I would love to wake up in a hotel somewhere there with those beautiful views.
Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Thanks to you!! The mountains in Cordillera de los Andes are around 6000 meters. There is Aconcagua, one of the most visited mountains for climbers :D
