Tour of the Gran Sabana, Bolívar State (Eng - Esp)
Greetings to fellow travelers around the world; it is a pleasure to greet you and wish you an excellent and blessed week. I am delighted to share my trip to the Gran Sabana in Bolívar State. This region is one of the country's most beautiful, distinguished by breathtaking landscapes that blend savanna terrain with majestic mountains. The Gran Sabana is the name of both the municipality and the vast region that encompasses the national park of the same name; the municipal capital is Santa Elena de Uairén, and the area is home to iconic landmarks such as the tepuis (flat-topped mountains), Angel Falls, and the Quebrada de Jaspe (Jasper Creek), among others. The journey I am sharing covers the route to the Gran Sabana and the beautiful views along the way; although the tepuis and the spectacular Angel Falls can be seen from other vantage points, my trip focused on Santa Elena de Uairén and the surrounding mountains. Along the journey, I admired the stunning mountain scenery—where vast plains seem to stretch endlessly until meeting the mountain slopes—as well as the various rivers and bridges that are part of this beautiful region.
The rolling hills in this area offer a beautiful landscape, with the mountain in the background displaying various shades of green; the day was cool and clear, and lovely clouds adorned the sky. I was struck by the different green hues in the vegetation, as well as the distinct lines marking the brown slopes. Further on, one can see a small river surrounded by greenery, the magnificent mountain, and a vast carpet of vegetation covering much of the terrain. This region is truly ideal for those who love enjoying nature and admiring its wonderful scenery; spectacular views can be seen right from the road, and as you travel along, you spot small hills and the mountain once again in the distance. Visiting this part of the country is a magical experience that allows you to connect with nature.
Saludos, amigos viajeros en todo el mundo, es un placer saludarles deseando que tengan una excelente y bendecida semana. Me alegra compartir mi viaje por la Gran Sabana, en el estado Bolívar. Esta región es una de las más hermosas del país y se distingue por paisajes impresionantes que combinan terrenos de sabana con montañas majestuosas. La Gran Sabana es el nombre del municipio y la vasta región que alberga un parque homónimo, la capital del municipio es Santa Elena de Uairén, el él se encuentran lugares emblemáticos como los tepuyes (montañas de cima plana), el Salto Ángel y la Quebrada de Jaspe, entre otros. El viaje que comparto abarca la ruta hacia la Gran Sabana y las hermosas vistas que ofrece el camino; aunque los tepuyes y el impresionante Salto Ángel pueden verse desde otros puntos, mi recorrido se centró en Santa Elena de Uairén y las montañas circundantes. Durante el trayecto, admiré los bellos paisajes montañosos, donde vastas llanuras parecen extenderse sin fin hasta encontrarse con las laderas de las montañas, así como los diversos ríos y puentes que forman parte de esta hermosa región.
Las elevaciones de tierra en esta zona, ofrecen un hermoso paisaje y al fondo la montaña con diferentes tonos de verde, el día estaba fresco, despejado y hermosas nubes adornaban el cielo, me llamó la atención las diferentes tonalidades de color verde que se observan en la vegetación, así como las diferentes líneas marcadas en las elevaciones de color marrón, luego se observa un pequeño río con vegetación alrededor, la increíble montaña y una inmensa alfombra vegetal que cubre gran parte del terreno; para quienes aman disfrutar de la naturaleza y observar sus maravillosos paisajes, definitivamente esta región es ideal, desde que vienes por la carretera puedes observar espectaculares vistas, avanzando se aprecian pequeñas elevaciones y nuevamente la montaña al fondo, visitar esta región del país es vivir una mágica experiencia y conectar con la naturaleza.
After passing through the grassy expanse, the incredible mountain appears, displaying various shades of vegetation. It looks like a painting, blending bands of light and dark green, followed by the paler green of the vegetation at the base and, closer by, grasses and flowering plants lining the roadside. In the next view—one of my favorites—you can see the colors of the rolling hills and, in the background, the beautiful, striking mountain that is home to Angel Falls. Then comes a small bridge offering a lovely view from the road, where the shrubs seem to mark the boundary between the flatlands and the rising terrain.
A continuación, se observa una especie de llanura con vegetación gramínea, este es el componente que hace a esta región del país única, su vegetación parece ser de la región llanera y en cierto punto es así, una gran parte del terreno está cubierta por vegetación gramínea y no se observan montañas lo cual es característico del llano, pero a medida que avanzas emerge la hermosa montaña que rodea esta zona.
Luego de recorrer la zona de las gramíneas se ve la increíble montaña con sus diferentes tonalidades de vegetación, pareciera un cuadro pintado pues combina las franjas verde claro con verde oscuro, seguidamente un verde más claro en la vegetación de la parte baja, a continuación gramas y plantas con flores ubicadas a la orilla del camino, en la siguiente vista que es una de mis favoritas, se aprecian los colores de las colinas y al fondo la hermosa y llamativa montaña donde se ubica el Salto Ángel, luego un pequeño puente y una vista muy hermosa desde la carretera, los arbustos parecen marcar el límite entre la zona plana y donde empiezan las elevaciones.
Here we see a partial view of the Yuruari River, framed by dense, dark green vegetation; alongside it, one can glimpse part of the savanna and a cluster of trees that are part of this beautiful ecosystem. The railing of the bridge crossing the river is pale yellow and spans only a short distance. Beyond that, the lovely savanna landscape comes into view, surrounded by mountains, shrubs, and herbaceous plants.
A closer look at the landscape reveals patches of brown vegetation, evidence of the drought the area has endured; the arrival of the rains has not yet been enough to turn this beautiful savanna green. Nevertheless, the contrasting colors of the plants create a stunning landscape that appears to be divided into distinct bands. Finally, we see the vast savanna and its vegetation, along with a boundary—seemingly a dirt path—that cuts through the shrubs, grasses, and roadside growth. Exploring these spaces and taking in the natural surroundings was a wonderful experience that I thoroughly enjoyed; I would have liked to stay longer to walk all the way to the mountain, but my companions noted that the journey there is quite long. Although the mountain looks very close, the trail leading to this natural wonder is a long one.
A continuación observamos una vista parcial del río Yuruari rodeado por una densa vegetación de color verde oscuro, al lado de ella se aprecia parte de la sabana y un grupo de árboles que integran este hermoso ecosistema, la baranda del puente sobre el río es de color amarillo claro, y se extiende por pocos metros, seguidamente, se aprecia el hermoso paisaje de la sabana rodeado por la montaña, arbustos y vegetación herbácea.
Observando en detalle el paisaje, la vegetación tiene áreas de color marrón, lo cual demuestra la sequía que ha experimentado la zona, además la llegada de las lluvias, no ha sido suficiente para que esta hermosa sabana se vista de color verde, sin embargo el contraste de colores que ofrecen las plantas, crea un hermoso paisaje que da la impresión de estar dividido por franjas, finalmente tenemos una vista de la extensa sabana, la vegetación y el límite que parece marcar un camino de tierra entre la vegetación arbustiva, las hierbas y las ubicadas en el borde de la carretera; poder recorrer estos espacios y contemplar los entornos naturales, fue una gran experiencia que disfruté al máximo, quería quedarme más tiempo para caminar y llegar hasta la montaña, los compañeros indicaron que el camino para llegar a la montaña es bastante largo, aunque da la impresión de que estamos muy cerca, es un largo sendero el que hay que recorrer, para llegar a esta maravilla de la naturaleza.
