Getting to know the Santa Rosa de Lima Church (Eng - Esp)
Hello, fellow travelers! I hope you’re having a wonderful day. Today, I’m sharing my visit to the Santa Rosa de Lima Church, located on Santa Rosa Street in Cumaná. It is a small church featuring a modern, minimalist style. It boasts a central garden and various ornamental plants along the sides, all enclosed by a perimeter fence that combines concrete, rockwork, and black metal railings. The most abundant plants include Ixora, Baby's Breath, Hibiscus, and Neem, among others.
Santa Rosa Avenue is a major city thoroughfare. It is located just a short distance from the "La Copita" building and is home to the headquarters of Radio 2000—a long-established station and one of the most well-known in the capital of Sucre state. The station's building features a light pink and white color scheme, a decorative clay-tile strip on the wall, and a perimeter fence accented by small royal palms and columns at the corners and flanking the entrance. A rectangular sign identifying the station, featuring colorful lettering, is displayed on one side. Also located on this avenue are Plaza Los Obispos, various shops, a gym, laboratories, and medical clinics. It is a bustling avenue that ends at the Cristal Plaza shopping center, near the José Martí traffic circle.
Hola, hola amigos viajeros, espero que tengan un excelente día, en esta ocasión les comparto mi visita a la iglesia Santa Rosa de Lima, ubicada en la calle santa Rosa, de Cumaná, es una iglesia pequeña con un estilo moderno y minimalista, cuenta con un jardín en la parte central, varias plantas ornamentales en los laterales, cerca perimetral que combina concreto, rocas y rejas de color negro, las plantas que más abundan son Ixoras, Velo de novia, Cayena, Neem, entre otras.
La avenida Santa Rosa, es un importante arteria vial de la ciudad, se ubica a pocos metros del edificio la Copita y en ella se encuentra la sede de Radio 2000, una emisora con varios años de antigüedad y una de las más conocidas en la capital del estado Sucre, la sede de la emisora es una una construcción de color rosado claro, con blanco, una franja de caico en la pared y la cerca perimetral con pequeños chaguaramos y columnas en las esquinas y a los lados de la puerta, en uno de los lados se lee la valla que identifica la radio, tiene forma rectangular con letras coloridas, en esta avenida se ubica también la plaza los Obispos, establecimientos comerciales, gimnasio, laboratorios, clínicas entre otros, es una avenida dinámica que termina en el centro comercial Cristal plaza, cerca de la redoma José Martí.
On the side wall is the name of the parish, Santa Rosa de Lima; which is painted white and features an image of her; next to it is a small altar made of rocks and concrete. It has a semicircular shape, a black window, and a wall also made of rock. The garden walls are also made of rock and concrete, very similar to the altar. At the front, you can see the blue cross, the church’s rectangular roof, and its triangular door.
On the side facing the garden, there is a pastoral office accessible via a terracotta path; the wall covers only half the height and transitions into metal grilles, while the rectangular door—also black and sliding—extends from floor to ceiling. I liked this church for its color combination and its simple, elegant style; it is quite different from others I have visited in the city. I had driven past this avenue many times and wanted to see the church; the opportunity arose unexpectedly, and I made the most of it to explore the various areas and lovely gardens.
En la pared lateral se lee el nombre de parroquia Santa Rosa de Lima, está pintada de color blanco y se encuentra una imagen de ella y al lado un pequeño altar hecho con rocas y concreto, tiene forma semicircular una ventana de color negro y un muro también elaborado con roca, las paredes de los jardines también están hechas con roca y concreto muy similares al altar, en la parte frontal se observa la cruz de color azul, el techo rectangular de la iglesia y su puerta triangular.
En el lado que da hacia el jardín se encuentra la oficina pastoraly un sendero de terracota para digirse hasta ella, la pared cubre solo la mitad y termina con rejas, la puerta es rectangular y se extiende desde el piso hasta el techo, la puerta frontal es corrediza y también de color negro, me gustó esta iglesia por la combinación de coores y su estilo sencillo y elegante, además es muy diferente a las que visitado en la ciudad, en muchas ocasiones habia pasado por esta avenida y quería conocer la iglesia, la oportunidad se dio sin planificar y la aproveché al máximo, para recorrer las diferentes áreas y sus lindos jardines.
The walls are made of brick, and a terracotta path leads from the main gate to the church entrance; one side features a solid wall, while the other is a perimeter fence bordering the gardens. The main entrance gate is black and constructed from metal tubing; it forms a black rectangle topped with a triangular section, featuring small metal rods arranged in a diamond pattern. Information posters regarding scheduled services are also displayed there.
Next, we see a close-up of the gate and its triangular top, followed by views of the interior and exterior lights. Wooden pews line both sides of the aisle, and the floor features a two-tone design of gray and white granite. The altar and walls share a similar brown hue and are decorated with flowers and white ribbons; black fans are mounted on the walls, and the lamps feature an octagonal design—white with black trim. The church boasts a minimalist, modern style; it lacks towers, a traditional nave, or a bell tower. It is a rectangular structure with a triangular entrance, featuring a concrete slab roof that extends from the front to the back, supported by columns. On one side, we see the fans, brick walls, columns, and upper metal grilles—matching the diamond pattern of the gate. The other side shows rows of pews, fans, part of the altar, and images of important religious figures. The design of the opposite wall differs significantly: it rises only halfway up before transitioning into metal grilles, allowing the outdoor breeze to enter. The wooden pews feature footrests at the rear. With the lights off, a green cross becomes visible on the altar, highlighting the roof's shape and how its edges align with the columns.
Las paredes son de ladrillo y un sendero de terracota conduce desde la puerta principal hasta la entrada de la iglesia, en uno de los lados tiene pared y en el otro es una cerca perimetral donde se encuentran los jardines, la puerta principal para acceder a la iglesia es de color negro y está formada por tubos es un rectángulo de color negro con terminación triangular y pequeñas cabillas que forman varios rombos, también allí se encuentran los afiches con informaciones sobre los servicios que se realizan.
A continuación, tenemos una vista más cercana de la puerta y su forma triangular, luego las luces encendidas en la parte interna y externa, los bancos son de madera y están ubicados a ambos lados del pasillo, el piso combina dos colores granito gris y de color blanco, el altar es de color marrón y los muros de color marrón similar a altar, están decorados con flores, cintas blancas, en ellos se ubican en ellos los ventiladores, que son de color negro, las lámparas tienen un diseño octagonal , son de color blanco con el borde negro; el estilo de esta iglesia es minimalista y moderno, no tiene torres, nave, ni campanario, es una estructura rectangular con la puerta triangular, el techo es una placa de concreto, que se extiende desde la entrada hasta la parte final, con terminaciones triangulares que tienen como soporte las columnas, en uno de los lados observamos los ventiladores, las paredes de ladrillo las columnas y las rejas superiores similares a la que están en la puerta con forma romboide, en el otro lado vemos las filas de bancos, los ventiladores, parte del altar y algunas imágenes de importantes personajes de la iglesia, en la otra pared el diseño es muy diferente pues llega hasta la mitad y continúa con rejas, de este lado se recibe la brisa proveniente desde el exterior, los bancos son de madera y tienen un posapiés en la parte posterior, apagadas las luces se aprecia en el altar una cruz verde, en el centro la forma del techo y como su terminación coincide con las columnas.

It’s a beautiful, simple yet cosy parish church; it reminds me a lot of those big houses with a large courtyard or garden at the front, full of trees and plants. I think that’s why I found it so welcoming, just like a home. It’s situated in an area with lots of shops and a major avenue, so it’s well-known to everyone and quite iconic.
What I liked most were the columns with those sculptures , it’s something I’ve never seen before, very original and innovative. It’s brilliant that you wander the city’s streets and share the beauty of the place where you live with us. Thank you so much and a big hug!💗
