Magic and fantasy in the Garden of Gamarra 📷 Malaga - Spain

When the surprises of life in the middle of a walk with no intention of looking for anything, are dressed in green, flowers, water fountains and pure air, it is the most wonderful thing.

I love exploring the city, for many reasons, I feel safe doing it, but also because I know, because experience has proved it to me, that it has hidden corners where you can discover amazing things.

That's exactly what happened to me a few days ago, I was walking along a two-way street when I saw a sign on a corner in the shape of a triangle. Of course I am always on the lookout for details, otherwise the sign would have gone unnoticed.

The sign in giant blue letters said ‘Garden of Gamarra’, where Gamarra is a neighbourhood in the district of Bailén-Miraflores. The sign was surrounded by plants, bushes and flowers. But I also saw many species of succulents and cacti.

I went a bit closer and the place was open, as if it had no door and a path led inside. What you are about to see is like a dream, like changing planes and entering a world of fantasy and magic, or at least that's how I felt.

Before passing through an opening that acted as a gate or door there was a whole series of plant species next to the sign, as if it were a front garden of a house. I liked to see what species there were, to enjoy the colours, to see the design, the layout of the places.

I could even see a small path to one side that was closed by a wire gate, but then I realised that this path led to a series of vegetable gardens that the Association that organises this wonderful place has. They give classes in agriculture, how to plant vegetables, everything to do with the land. I found it amazing that a group of people are dedicated to teaching neighbours how to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

Also at the entrance I could see a notice board with announcements about workshops, for example, yoga, knitting and much more. Each one had a sign with a contact number.

After having walked through the beautiful green entrance, which reminded me of gardens in country houses or maybe in the city, but in the more remote neighbourhoods, which I love, I passed through the opening where the path led me.

I can assure you that the sensation was one of surprise, I was amazed, the place enchanted me, it was like a place where magical beings live, every corner was special.

There was a sector that I believe was destined for a game, which was announced on one of the signs at the entrance that you play with balls.

I started to walk there and wondered if I could do it because I didn't see any people, until I heard some voices very far away. It was a place open to the public, but there was also an area where certain workshops were held, at the far end of the gardens.

On the right side of the path was a large garden with narrow paths where I could enjoy a magical atmosphere.

There were not only plants of all kinds, trees, flowers, but also beautiful small sculptures such as a dog, a dove, elves, a lighthouse, flower carts and even a large water fountain made of rocks. It was a wonderful place where you couldn't hear the noises of the city. It was as if I had been teleported to another dimension.

The day was mostly cloudy, but the sun showed up from time to time and gave its brightness, illuminating everything in a special way. Yes, it all seemed like a fantasy world like a beautiful dream.

At one point I was admiring a space with flowerpots, small statues, an entrance to paths, when a man came up to me and asked me if I wanted to take a picture with the plants. I don't like photos as you know and I told him that I was admiring this marvel because it reminded me of my garden in Argentina. I had many of the plants I saw there. He told me to enjoy the place and that he was there for any questions I wanted to ask him.

It really reminded me of my big garden. It was a special day in a special place. This city is special. I always find these kind of magical corners and I love it.

I lived for a while an incredible moment in a space that contrasts with the city, the cars, the rushing life. For that moment I was transported to an alternate world full of magic and good vibes and I will come back to sit on a bench and just be in the middle of that beautiful place.
