A family visit to Cayo Coco. Una visita por Cayo Coco en familia. [Eng/Esp]

Hello to all my travelling family, I hope you are well and that you enjoyed your recent holidays. On this occasion, I would like to share with you a trip we took to the northern cays of our province. We often don't take enough time to relax and spend time with our families, so we forget how valuable and important every minute shared with our loved ones outside of our daily routine can be. That's why we decided to take this trip to spend some time together and have some much-needed fun.

That's why, after so many setbacks, we slung our backpacks over our shoulders and set off for Cayo Coco, which, for those who don't know, is the group of cays north of the province of Ciego de Ávila. Taking one of these trips is quite a challenge, as you have to get passes to get through the toll booth, find a car to take you there, and deal with other minor details that I won't go into, but the important thing is that we were able to do it.

One of the first installations we come across is what everyone in Avila knows as "La silla" (The Chair). We stop here briefly to take some photos and enjoy the wonderful views for a while, because it's really worth it. We sit down for a few minutes, enjoy a coffee and continue our journey. A photo at "La Silla" is a must; any self-respecting Cuban takes this souvenir home with them.

Next was a visit to the "Cueva del Jabalí" (Boar Cave). We loved the place; it was very cosy and completely surrounded by lush vegetation.

Many things caught my attention here, such as the fact that to get down to the premises you have to take a wooden spiral staircase, and there is a very cool caravel at the entrance door. The decor of the premises is horror movie style, although we couldn't go in because it's only open at night.

From there, we went to Las Dunas beach and took a dip. I love the sea and the tranquillity it conveys. We had a very pleasant day, and best of all, we were with our family. That's all for today's post. I hope you enjoyed it and that everyone who can will be inspired to visit our beautiful beaches.
