Visiting Košutnjak park and source of spring water

avatar

Outside the center of Belgrade, at the 350 meters of elevation there is a beautiful forest park Košutnjak. Back in the old days, it was reserved for the imperial family where they used to hunt. In fact, it is likely named after a hind (femalde deer) which is called "košuta" in Serbian. Now the deer are gone from the forest and it was opened to public in the early 20th century.

Beautiful landscape of the place is unfortunately tainted with loud traffic noise. Roads go all around the forest so it's impossible to find a quiet place. But it's still worth the visit.

There are many varieties of deciduous and evergreen old trees carefully planted in rows along the road. And when you get deeper into the forest, many beaten paths lead to various directions one can explore.

One of the reasons I like to visit this place is that it has a source of spring water, one of the only few in Belgrade that are recommended for drinking. Given that I'm trying to move away from buying bottled water, this is a great way to stock up. The well is called "Hajdučka česma" (brigand's fountain) and it's 3.5 meters high stone fountain with 3 faucets, built sometime in the 18th century and recently renovated.

You can find old benches and tables around the forest - I stopped at one to fill up with calories and read a few pages. We're just coming out of winter and the park is already looking beautiful with new colors, especially the flowers, early heralds of spring.

It was a peaceful morning photographing and walking among the trees and reconnecting with nature. Until next time. :)

Stunning photography of a stunning place. It looks so calm and peaceful. The spring water must taste superior! I know the couple of spring waters I have tasted was so sweet and amazing. Enjoy! I am very jealous of you.

Thank you! Nature is waking up here so it's amazing to be in such place. Indeed the spring water tastes amazing! :) I was buying bottled water previously and not all of those taste bad, but this is much better and healthier option. Will try to switch completely.

You are lucky that you have that choice! I am too far away from such springs. Enjoy it!

It is interesting, here where I live, we don't have seasons in which nature wakes up. But our nature "transforms" from summer to winter and winter to summer. It is merely the putting on of winter and summer colors! Some flowers bloom in the winter some in the summer.

That is great that you have that spring close to BG. We also avoid buying water, however, to have the spring water we have to drive to the mountains. We may do it tomorrow actually as just spent almost all from the storage.

What did you read? :)

Yeah bottled water isn't much improvement from the tap water I believe. So it's either spring or distilled water.

It's the first book of The Essene gospel of peace. I'm not too much into religious texts, but I'm quite amazed so far by this ancient manuscript. :)

The Essene gospel of peace

I have checked now about the book and also the author, actually the translator. Thanks for the response ;)

The letting know part would be easier than the giving it a try as already some books are waiting for me, for some months. They are on my bedside table, waiting patiently to be consumed 😁

Have a good weekend @alcibiades 😉

I wouldn't mind spending long hours in a place like this. Peaceful and serene.
