Wednesday walk : Irpin

IMG_6905.jpeg

Hi, my dear Wednesday walkers!

Very often my walks are limited to a walk with a dog in the forest or a trip to the nearest village. But here already the second week I state an activity, unusual for me. Of course, there is nothing supernatural in this, things just accumulated. Last week I talked about my trip to Kyiv, and today I invite you to Irpin.

Irpin is one of the satellite towns of Kyiv. It is located near Bucha and Gostomel. In fact, it can be difficult to tell where one of these cities ends and another begins.
My friend lives here, so my visits here are common.

I love being here. I like this unusual combination of provinciality and modernity, which is characteristic of this city. Here you can see private houses on one street and high-rise buildings on the next. Narrow streets are combined with amazing images of wide highways.

But what is invariable here is the love with which the townspeople equip their city, take care of it. Now it is hard to believe that only a year has passed since the occupation of the city by the Russian invaders when the city was destroyed by more than 50%. I've added some photos for comparison at the end of this post, but I don't want to dwell on it too long, there are things I want to forget like a bad dream.

I like the way the pedestrian crossings are made here. They are much higher than the road. First, it's much safer. And, secondly, in the rainy season, pedestrians can easily cross the road avoiding puddles ↘️

⤴️This is my friend's house. It is very old. There is a special life here. All neighbors know each other. No one has a problem leaving a cat with someone for a vacation or who will water your flowers.

I'll tell you a secret that I've been in love with this house for a long time. If I had 30,000 dollars, I would definitely buy an apartment here. There is something especially cozy in these modern Irpin houses ↘️

And these photos show what the war did to Irpin. Not all of the destroyed buildings have been dismantled yet.

This building was the first thing we saw when we arrived in Irpin a year ago. It was a shock. It came under fire one of the first. People were just sleeping... They had a life, they had plans...

My friend's house a year ago. She said I stood and watched russian missile fly at my house. But it got into a high-rise building, which literally covered my house with itself

With love from Ukraine 💛💙

I heard similar things in the past. Even with countries. For example one side of the street is in one country, and the other side of the street is in another country. I currently do not remember where. Maybe somewhere around Belgium, Luxembourg, or Netherlands.

I love being here.

This is good to hear.

This is sad, but at the same time good too in a way that you friend survived.

I hope that both of you (and everyone else) will stay safe and healthy.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.
