[ENG/ESP] A workday Wednesday with a taste of Margarita.
I wish you all a happy day, friends of #wednesdaywalk. I sincerely hope you’re doing well and that this new day gives you reasons to smile. Today I’m especially happy to share another tour with you, thanks to @tattoodjay initiative, which I enjoy so much and has become a lovely weekly tradition.
As usual, we set out early to do our work. The day was beautiful, though a bit stifling; from very early on, the sun made its presence felt with exaggerated intensity, as if to remind us that in Margarita, the weather has a personality all its own. Even so, that strong glare also has its charm, because it allows us to capture beautiful photos along the way, and of course I took advantage of the clear, radiant sky to snap several shots.
When the weather is this sunny, it’s impossible to forget the sunscreen and the water bottle. Staying hydrated is vital, especially when you spend so much time outdoors. Amidst beautiful landscapes and the blue sea along our routes, we arrived at the day’s destination: Sunsol Isla Caribe. We didn’t stay even ten minutes, because we were only there to deliver a quote for a pending job. It was a quick visit.
When we were done, we decided to stop by a section of Playa El Tirano where there are some benches facing the sea, made by the locals themselves.

Hoy me encuentro especialmente contenta por compartir con ustedes otro recorrido más, gracias a la iniciativa de @tattoodjay , que tanto disfruto y que se ha convertido en una bonita costumbre semanal.
Como de costumbre, salimos temprano a realizar nuestro trabajo. El día estaba hermoso, aunque un tanto sofocante; desde muy temprano el sol se hacía notar con una intensidad exagerada, como si quisiera recordarnos que en Margarita el clima tiene personalidad propia. Aun así, ese brillo tan fuerte también tiene su encanto, porque permite capturar fotos preciosas durante el recorrido, y por supuesto aproveché para tomar varias gracias a ese cielo despejado y radiante.
Cuando el clima está así de soleado, es imposible olvidar el bloqueador solar y el termo de agua. Mantenerse hidratado es vital, sobre todo cuando se pasa tanto tiempo al aire libre. Entre paisajes hermosos y ese azul del mar en nuestras rutas, llegamos al destino del día; Sunsol Isla Caribe. No nos demoramos ni diez minutos, porque solo íbamos a entregar un presupuesto de un trabajo pendiente. Fue una visita rápida.
Al terminar, decidimos pasar por un sector de Playa El Tirano donde hay unos bancos mirando al mar, hechos por los mismos lugareños.
I love that place; it’s one of my husband’s and my favorite spots. It has something special about it—a sense of calm that envelops you the moment you sit down. Time there passes like a sea breeze: gently, very lightly, almost without you noticing.
Ese lugar me encanta; es uno más de los preferidos de mi esposo y mío. Tiene algo especial, una calma que te envuelve apenas te sientas. El tiempo allí se va como la brisa marina; suave, muy ligero, casi sin que uno lo note.
This time, something caught our attention: the sardine nets—nets that fishermen use to catch sardines—were set out in the sea. They seemed to be full, because there were so many birds fluttering above them. And if the birds are there, it’s a sure sign of abundance.
En esta ocasión, algo nos llamó la atención: en el mar estaban colocados los chinchorros sardineros, unas redes que usan los pescadores para atrapar sardinas. Al parecer estaban repletos, porque había muchísimas aves revoloteando encima. Y si las aves están allí, es señal segura de abundancia.
On the shore, I saw a family of fishermen pulling their boat out of the water, and they were the ones who explained the chinchorros to me. I’ll be honest with you; I don’t know much about fishing, but I love learning, and of course, I love fish.
En la orilla vi a una familia de pescadores sacando su bote del mar, y fueron ellos quienes me explicaron lo de los chinchorros. Les soy honesta; no sé mucho de estas labores de pesca, pero me encanta aprender y, por supuesto, me encanta el pescado.
My husband and I had a wonderful time watching that little natural spectacle—the birds, the fishermen, the gentle sway of the sea… a simple scene, yet full of life. It’s amazing how such ordinary moments can turn into beautiful memories.
Mi esposo y yo pasamos un buen rato contemplando ese pequeño espectáculo natural; las aves, los pescadores, el vaivén del mar… una escena sencilla, pero llena de vida. Es increíble cómo estos momentos tan cotidianos pueden convertirse en recuerdos hermosos.
As always, the magic of the sea whets the appetite, and it was already past lunchtime. So we went out to find something delicious to eat. Very close to home, we found a place called Nela, located on 31 de Julio Avenue in the Cocheima neighborhood of the Arismendi municipality, here in Nueva Esparta. They serve set menus, soups, Creole cuisine, and dishes typical of Margarita. I had walked past it many times without stopping, caught up in the rush of daily life, but this time we decided to go in.
Como siempre, la magia del mar abre el apetito, y ya era pasada la hora de almorzar. Así que nos fuimos a buscar algo rico para comer. Muy cerca de casa encontramos un local llamado Nela, ubicado en la avenida 31 de Julio, en el sector Cocheima, municipio Arismendi, aquí en Nueva Esparta. Venden menús, sopas, comida criolla y platos muy margariteños. Había pasado muchas veces por allí sin detenerme, por la prisa del día a día, pero esta vez decidimos entrar.
The place is outdoors, very cool, with a delightful breeze. We ordered a cachapa and a serving of pork. The food was excellent, and the service was even better—friendly, quick, and with that typical charm of the locals. And the price was surprisingly reasonable. I’m picky about what I eat, and I was more than satisfied.
El lugar es al aire libre, muy fresco, con una brisa deliciosa. Pedimos una cachapa y una ración de cochino. La comida estaba excelente, y la atención aún mejor; amable, rápida y con ese carisma típico de la gente de aquí. Y el precio, sorprendentemente bueno. Yo soy exigente con lo que como, y quedé más que complacida.
After that delicious meal, we headed home with that inner joy that only the sea, a job well done, and the satisfaction of having enjoyed a simple yet special day can bring.
