[ENG/ESP] A Wednesday of errands that also tell stories
Hello, #wednesdaywalk friends! Today I want to share with you today’s walk—a Wednesday that felt almost like a breath of fresh air after a pretty hectic week. Last week I wasn’t able to take part in this wonderful initiative by our dear @tattoodjay because work took up more time than usual, and, to be honest, I barely had a moment to breathe. But today, I’m delighted to be back here with you to show you a little slice of my day.
As usual, we left home early. When you live on the island and have several tasks to tackle, the best strategy is to make the most of the early hours of the day, when the sun isn’t quite so intense yet and the city is just starting to wake up. We had several things we hadn’t been able to take care of because we’d finished work so late the previous days, so today turned out to be the perfect opportunity to catch up.
Hola amigos de #wednesdaywalk, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes el recorrido de este día, un miércoles que llegó casi como un respiro después de una semana bastante movida. La semana pasada no pude participar en esta hermosa iniciativa de nuestro querido @tattoodjay, porque el trabajo demandó más tiempo del habitual y, para ser sincera, apenas tuve espacio para respirar. Pero hoy, con mucho gusto, estoy nuevamente aquí para acompañarlos y mostrarles un pedacito de mi jornada.
Como de costumbre, salimos temprano de casa. Cuando uno vive en la isla y tiene varias tareas pendientes, la mejor estrategia es aprovechar las primeras horas del día, cuando el sol todavía no castiga tanto y la ciudad comienza a despertar. Teníamos varios asuntos que no habíamos podido resolver por terminar tan tarde de trabajar en días anteriores, así que este día se convirtió en la oportunidad perfecta para ponernos al día.
The weather was glorious, as it usually is here on Margarita Island: a clear sky, bright sunshine, and that stifling heat that reminds you that staying hydrated is not optional. It’s a heat that accompanies you, that embraces you, but that also demands respect. With bottles of water in hand, we set off for the city of Porlamar to tackle the first task of the day.
El clima estaba radiante, como suele ser aquí en la Isla Margarita; un cielo despejado, un sol brillante y ese calor sofocante que te recuerda que la hidratación no es opcional. Es un calor que acompaña, que abraza, pero que también exige respeto. Con botellas de agua en mano, emprendimos rumbo hacia la ciudad de Porlamar para cumplir con la primera tarea del día.
Our first stop was at Silenciadores Daniel, a place that has already become part of our regular routes. With all the back-and-forth we’ve been doing lately, the car’s exhaust pipe came loose and the noise was truly deafening—the kind that makes it impossible to ignore the problem. We like this shop because they work quickly, do quality work, and offer great prices. Plus, they’re already familiar with our cars and always find the right solution without any hassle. They told us it would take about an hour and a half, so we decided to make the most of that time.
Nuestra primera parada fue en el taller Silenciadores Daniel, un lugar que ya se ha vuelto parte de nuestras rutas habituales. En estos días de tanto ir y venir, el tubo de escape del carro se soltó y el ruido era realmente ensordecedor, de esos que no te permiten ignorar el problema. Este taller nos gusta porque trabajan rápido, con calidad y a muy buenos precios. Además, ya conocen nuestros autos y siempre encuentran la solución adecuada sin complicaciones. Nos dijeron que tardarían aproximadamente una hora y media, así que decidimos aprovechar ese tiempo.
While the car was in the hands of the experts, we went to tackle another task that had brought us to the city: searching for and comparing prices on a piece of equipment we urgently needed—a fuel-powered pressure washer. We walked around, asked questions, looked at options, and finally found one with the right specifications for our needs. However, we couldn’t buy it today because the car is small and the equipment takes up too much space. We’ll have to come back another time with the pickup truck so we can transport it without any problems.
Mientras el carro quedaba en manos de los expertos, nos fuimos a adelantar otra de las tareas que nos había llevado a la ciudad: buscar y comparar precios de una herramienta de trabajo que necesitamos con urgencia, un hidrojet de combustible. Caminamos, preguntamos, revisamos opciones y finalmente encontramos uno que tenía las características adecuadas para lo que necesitamos. Sin embargo, no pudimos comprarlo hoy porque el carro es pequeño y el equipo requiere más espacio. Tendremos que regresar en otro momento con la camioneta para poder llevarlo sin inconvenientes.
With that task left for another day, we moved on to our next goal: going to the Hotel Unik to drop off some invoices from last week that we hadn’t been able to deliver due to a lack of time. As always, we were greeted very warmly. In the accounting department, everything went quickly and smoothly, which is always appreciated when you’re trying to take care of several things in a single day.
Con esa tarea pendiente para otro día, nos dirigimos al siguiente propósito; entrar al Hotel Unik para entregar unas facturas de la semana pasada que no habíamos podido entregar por falta de tiempo. Como siempre, nos recibieron con mucha cordialidad. En el departamento de contabilidad todo fluyó rápido y sin contratiempos, lo cual siempre se agradece cuando uno anda resolviendo varias cosas en una sola jornada.
With all of the day’s tasks taken care of, we headed back home. We were feeling tired, but we also felt that quiet satisfaction of having accomplished what needed to be done. The week ahead is still packed with work, so the rest was well deserved.
Ya con todos los pendientes del día resueltos, emprendimos el regreso a casa. El cansancio se sentía, pero también esa satisfacción tranquila de haber cumplido con lo necesario. La semana continúa cargada de trabajo, así que el descanso era más que merecido.

Sometimes mornings start off with the frantic pace of things I need to get done, but I still try to carve out that little moment for myself and let my eyes take in something beautiful.
