A Wednesday Walk to the Rim of the City

My weekly share for the #wednesdaywalk community, as inspired by @tattoodjay.

For this week's walk, I returned to my most favorite local haunt...the abandoned quarry. This time, however, I skipped the epic views of the quarry's pit, and approached it from the north. It's a bit different on this side of the area...and the walk up is steep!

All in, the gain was 421 feet in height. Not a bad incline to manage with my steel toes on. I'm sure blisters started to form on my heels again, but oh well...the views and photos must be had!

Once to the top, I decided to check out some trails that led up to a few rock croppings on the local bluff. This was my first time visiting this area, and I wasn't exactly sure what was beyond the tree line. It actually rained in the area earlier today...so the hope was that the trails were still fairly solid. Fortunately, they were, and the Wednesday adventure was on...

I typically struggle somewhat with vertigo. For whatever reason, when I knocked myself out on a snowboard while attempting to navigate a local "bunny hill", I've grown uneasy with steep heights and ledges. For whatever reason....whether it was the low light or grey clouds, the vertigo wasn't as much as an issue today. So I managed to grab a few shots with my Pixel 7 Pro camera, yet again, on today's afternoon walk. Vertigo be damned, I tell you...

What a nice afternoon calorie burn. I managed to put a turkey and swiss melt down for lunch; I passed on the fries, but still felt a bit full. This walk helped get the metabolism going and made me feel like a kid again. Yeah, I might have moved gingerly down the rocky decline to get back to the car, and maybe I am not Spiderman anymore, but I did it. Oh yeah, I did it.

That's it for this week's share! Thanks for checking it out, and I hope everyone out there had a wonderful and safe Wednesday too!

Wow bro!, those are the best pics I've seen on Hive today. It looks to me like you are very brave to have so much vertigo and still do your awesome walk and see new areas without knowing if they are quiet walkable or unstable. You should be proud to wear the blisters you got because it was worth it, just by visiting your post one feels like a part of your experience. Congratulations and congratulations...

I thought it was just me who experienced that thing (oh but what was I thinking? I can’t be the only one). I get real dizzy from certain heights. And they are not even High!

Those are telling pictures too! I love them. I enjoy pictures like these. They make me giddy too!

Yeah I struggle with it myself. Vertigo gets me thrown off for sure. It's almost like there is magnet drawing me to the abyss, you know? No fun!
