Flowers By the Sea .:. Wednesday Morning Walk

avatar

This post is kind of inspired by another one, to be more exact, by @victorbz and his latest post The Mundane Challenge, where he took photos of simple, everyday things from his surroundings... As I like to walk and very often walk on the same routes, I got the idea to show my daily walks in a different way...

01.jpg

So, in front of you, you can see photos of beautiful flowers on the same route I was on when I created a post about chiringuitos de Altea a month ago...

02.jpg

It is the same route, but photos are taken in a different direction... Thanks to my OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder, not the famous curator account on HIVE 😃), I like to keep my photos in the exact order I took them... So, this time, I have taken them from my home, by the sea, to the almost end of the neighboring town Altea...

03.jpg

According to Google Maps, this route is around 6.5 km long if you are doing it by the sea, which is very pleasant and more peaceful...

04.jpg

The first couple of images are taken from the fence of the neighboring building, and the one above is the flower planted in front of the restaurant...

05.jpg

After a couple of minutes, we are already at the beach... It looks like late in the evening, but it was actually around 10 AM when I left home... It was mostly cloudy, but I suppose that the air was very humid as the sea is relatively hot compared with the time of the year... I suppose that the English word for this type of weather is "haze"? Or haze is more when the air is polluted?

06.jpg

07.jpg

There were a couple of tourists on the beach, but no sun, no fun... 😃

08.jpg

Most locals by the sea are small businesses like restaurants, gift shops, and bars, but there are exceptions in my small town... After the II World War, there was a "law jungle" in Spain, so if you wanted to build something, you could do it wherever you wanted... So, you can find some private properties almost at the seashores, which isn't possible nowadays... All beaches are public and the "first line" by the sea is "protected" from buildings...

09.jpg

But, on the other side, nobody can take your property if you own it from the past... That's why you can see even buildings (like this one) by the sea... This one has a small space for flowers in front and it looks great!

10.jpg

11.jpg

I'm not seeing roses too much in Spain and I'm always happy when I catch one in a photo... This isn't in my favorite red color, but it is still pretty!

12.jpg

13.jpg

I didn't know that this beautiful flower is also one type of rose... It's named Moss-rose, but these flowers are big as a thumbnail...

14.jpg

15.jpg

16.jpg

Slowly (but only here in the post as I was fast walking... 😃), we are getting to the Altea port where I have photographed this, already famous for the locals, boat that I have never seen in the water! For the 11 years that I live in this zone, this boat is at the same place, parked outside the water... What a pity!

17.jpg

18.jpg

19.jpg

I suppose that these galleries will look prettier in a couple of years when the "crawling" Bougainvillea covers the whole construction...

20.jpg

21.jpg

This orange/red "bush flower" Lantana is part of the roundabout and that's something that Spaniards like to do... They plant palm trees, bushes, and flowers in roundabouts and they aren't boring as they tend to be in other places... Most of the time, they do maintain them and keep them beautiful... Good job!

22.jpg

23.jpg

Another great idea is to cover the ground around the palm tree with these white flowers... That Plumbago gave a nice touch to this sea sidewalk...

24.jpg

25.jpg

26.jpg

As there is a lot of restaurant by the sea, there are also cats... This is a nice "cat shelter" built by the town council where they feed them and control overpopulation...

27.jpg

28.jpg

My mobile phone camera has problems with taking photos that have this strong pink-red color... So, sorry about that...

29.jpg

30.jpg

As this small river is going into the sea, I had to go a bit inland to cross the bridge, but I will be back to the seashore soon... :)

31.jpg

Oleander is probably the most common flower here and because of that, I didn't take a lot of photos of it... You can find it on people's fences, by the road, on the highway, etc... It grows everywhere and it doesn't need a lot of care to do so...

32.jpg

This is another beautiful example of Plumbago, but this time in a different color... Is it purple? Is it blue? 😃

33.jpg

34.jpg

This one is another of my favorite flowers (photo under)... The name is Queen of Sheba-vine which sounds like some species from StarWars... :)

35.jpg

36.jpg

Told you that we will come back to the sea...

37.jpg

I know that these aren't flowers, but I liked these stairways very much... So original, unique, and informal... :)

38.jpg

39.jpg

40.jpg

41.jpg

And slowly, we have reached the end of my today's walk... On the right, you can see the small part of the chiringuito that was my starting point in the already-mentioned post from a month ago...

42.jpg

43.jpg

So, I'm not a plant expert, nor a flower expert, but I like them very much... I didn't know the names of these flowers before writing this post, but I have found a great website where you can find that information...

So, if you have a photo of a plant and you want to know its name, you can go to https://identify.plantnet.org/, upload the photo (or enter the weblink to the photo) and it will give you an answer!

I hope you enjoyed the walk as I did!

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

Woah tons of healthy flowers for sure lot of benificial insect also all over. I agreed it will be look so fantasy like features if the Bougainvillea covers all. Then comes it's season. Surely Instagramable.

Great walk too, and good you are taking the time to capture the normal things most don’t even pay attention to.
Hahaha I do the same, always put my photos in order of when I took them.
It isn’t a forest, but you still saw soooo many flowers 🌸 beautiful… always. They do brighten one’s days up.
Thanks for sharing!
