Amsterdam Between Rain Showers .:. Hive Fest 7 Memories

avatar

I have already created 3 posts from my #HiveFest7 adventure in the Netherlands, but I still have some great stuff to share with you guys... Has passed almost a month since my last day there, and I do have some kind of nostalgia for hanging out with my fellow Hivers!

I was kind of sick on the last day, and after that, I needed another 5-7 days to get well... Also, the weather wasn't the best when we were there (I know, I know... It was a usual day in The Netherlands, but the problem was that I'm not used to it... lol...)... Anyways, I forgot all those stuff and if someone would ask me to go there again, I would start packing my suitcase... :)

So, today's photos that you can find in this post are taken in Amsterdam, on the second day of #HiveFest presentations... We had a free afternoon/evening on that day, and @ugochill invited @little.lamb, Jux (@risingstargame), and me for a walk around the city... As he is living in Amsterdam, it was a perfect way for us to do some sightseeing and get information about the city first hand...

03.jpg

Our afternoon walk was interrupted by a short rain shower when we went to Ugo's wife's home to warm up... Luckily, the rain didn't last too long, so we could continue our walk around the city... As we had such a great time talking, I didn't have time to take more photos as you can see in this post... We were walking around the city, but I forgot to film it... 🤦‍

04.jpg

Before coming to Amsterdam, I saw a couple of TV shows where there were showing these "floating homes" that are very popular there... In a lot of them, people do live for the whole year, some are floating bars, and others are turned into floating museums...

05.jpg

06.jpg

Also, having a boat in your backyard isn't a rare image to see... Many people use canals and boats to move around the city... Do the shopping, go to work, go to bars, etc... I have found on Wikipedia that Amsterdam has more than 100km of canals, 90 islands, and 1500 bridges!!! That's a lot!!! It's not a surprise that you can get to any part of the city by BOAT!

07.jpg

Also, @ugochill said that, if a winter is cold, sometimes these canals got frozen... In those moments, people use them as boulevards walking over them, or just walk on them as an ordinary streets!

08.jpg

The venue that you can see above and under this photo is a famous Melkweg (Dutch Milky Way), where a lot of famous bands from all around the world come to play... It probably got its name as it was a former dairy (before a sugar refinery) that was closed around 1970...

When we were passing by, there was a long queue of people waiting to buy tickets for the American R&B band Moonchild...

09.jpg

The weather was getting worse every moment, and we were hungry, so the shower came at the right time... We arrived at one of the squares where we have planned to sit and relax a bit... Luckily, we didn't get wet too much... Also, we have found a table near the gas heater and that helped a lot in getting cozy and warm... 😃

10.jpg

The rest is history... We were talking about all kinds of topics, exchanging our personal stories, waiting for the rain to stop... But on the other side, secretly hoped that the day will last for at least 48 hours as we had such a great time! Unfortunately, our ways had to go in different directions as it was the last day for Jux before going back to England, and the rest of us had another day of hanging out with other Hivers...

I think that I have one more photo series from The Hague and I will try to prepare a post about it in the next week or two... And what then? Well, hopefully, I will attend some Hive Meetups in the meantime and take more photos from some other part of the world... 😃

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

Indeed that there are so many places to visit there, and to do! Unfortunately, the time was limited, so I didn't see that much stuff... The most important thing was to meet fellow Hivers and hangout with them... I hope that there will be occasions in the future to repeat it!

What more could you want, a personal guide! One of the most stunning cities we've seen so far. I'm not sure what time it was when you took the photos, but I'm shocked that the concert begins in the afternoon or early evening, here parties typically begin at midnight.:D

I couldn't ask for more and he found me, as a matter of fact... 😃

They were just selling tickets at that time... The concert was 3 days after... I didn't express myself right in the post... :)
