La Catedral De Caracas

Mi día está destinado a caminar por la ciudad, buscar ese espacio de tranquilidad. Y el momento es prometedor con la luz del sol, que nos arropa suavemente y recorre las calles sigilosamente; a esto lo acompaña un día fresco, que te anima a buscar caminos para disfrutar calles, cruzar avenidas y encontrar tiendas que te invitan a entrar. Sin embargo, sigo deambulando por esas calles. Llegué a esta iglesia, y quise entrar y capturar cada rincón de ella; sabía que había muchas historias en su interior para contar.

The church, known as the Caracas Cathedral, or Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Ana, is located in the historic center of our city. Construction began in 1630 as a small temple; over time, it underwent many renovations due to earthquakes that struck the city. In 1638, it became a cathedral by order of King Philip IV of Spain. La Iglesia, conocida como la Catedral de Caracas, o Catedral Metropolitana de Santa Ana, situada en el centro histórico de nuestra ciudad. Comenzó su construcción en 1630 como un templo; a lo largo del tiempo sufrió muchas remodelaciones debido a los terremotos acaecidos en la ciudad. En 1638 pasó a ser catedral por orden del rey Felipe IV de España. Su arquitectura es una mezcla colonial con estilo neoclásico y barroco. (https://iamvenezuela.org/)

Inside, we find five naves: a central nave and two side aisles, separated by arches and columns. Ceremonies and liturgies for the parishioners are held at the High Altar. Along the sides are chapels dedicated to various saints and images that reflect our religious identity. During my visit, I can clearly see the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, so closely tied to its history. It also houses the family pantheon of the Liberator. The scene depicts the Liberator's soul prostrate before the tomb of his parents.

En su interior encontramos cinco naves, una nave central y dos naves, a ambos laterales, separadas por arcos y columnas; en el Altar Mayor se realizan las ceremonias y liturgias para los feligreses. A los lados encontramos capillas dispuestas para los diferentes santos e imágenes de nuestra identidad religiosa. En mi recorrido puedo apreciar bien identificada con su historia la Capilla de la Santísima Trinidad. Panteón de la familia del libertador. La escena representa el alma del Libertador postrado ante la tumba de sus padres.

Another chapel displays Saint Peter. The Blessed Sacrament is next, followed by the Chapel of Saint Anne and old paintings depicting Jesus at his baptism by Saint John the Baptist.

Otra capilla muestra a San Pedro. El Santísimo Sacramento, seguidamente la Capilla de Santa Ana y cuadros antiguos donde se ve la imagen de Jesús cuando fue bautizado por San Juan Bautista.

It's a solemn place; the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a very calm, spiritual space. I may have been here before, but I never explored it with such interest and devotion. I wanted to share these photos to explore the story behind each religious figure. We found altarpieces with many images of saints; we also saw the Virgin of Coromoto, patron saint of Venezuela.

Es un lugar solemne; la atmósfera que se respira te hace sentir que estás en un espacio espiritual de mucha calma. Quizás vine en otras oportunidades, pero nunca detallé con tanto interés y devoción. Estas fotos las quise reproducir para buscar la historia que se esconde detrás de cada figura religiosa. Encontramos retablos con muchas imágenes de santidades; también vemos a la Virgen de Coromoto, patrona de Venezuela.

And on the other sides, stained-glass windows adorn the walls, their transparency allowing the subtle rays of sunlight to filter through, illuminating the space where the devout faithful are focused on their prayers. The fine wood of its doors, pews, and furnishings, along with its marble floor, lends a sense of solemnity to the place. I believe that this particular Wednesday held many pleasant moments for me during my visit; each click captured very spiritual and vibrant images.

Y en los otros laterales adornan las paredes los vitrales que con su transparencia dejan colar los sutiles rayos del sol, dándole claridad al recinto, donde los fieles devotos están concentrados en sus oraciones. La fina madera de sus puertas, bancos y confeccionarlos, aunado a su piso de mármol, da mucha sobriedad al lugar. Creo que este día en particular del miércoles, me deparó muchos momentos agradables en mi paseo, cada clic paralizo imágenes muy espirituales y coloridas.
