So close to the Danube and so far
We haven't seen the sun since Saturday.
The cold weather has arrived, bringing rain and clouds.
I can tell you that everyone is enjoying the refreshment after the drought .We also had fires in the southern parts of the country due to the rain and warm weather.
For this Wednesday walk challenge I decided to go to the embankment and the water.
We have a lot of storks, so you can meet them along the way. And if you are careful you can get quite close to them.
The first body of water we come across is a pond named Provalija.
It is also the closest to the village.
My son brought a fishing rod.
He decided to learn to fish.
I set up a fishing rod for him, but I haven't put a hook on it yet.
This is his first time fishing with a fishing rod so I didn't want him to get himself or me hooked.
Instead I tied a fake worm with string.
He lacks a little patience, he wanted to catch a fish on the first cast.
But he will learn..
There is a lot of plastic in the area. When the Danube level is high, the water brings.
And careless visitors also throw bottles.
Although there is always a bag for disposing of garbage.
You have to go down the brick embankment to the water. So the locals built stairs and a handrail to make it easier to go down.
The first part of the embankment, or rather the lower part of the embankment to the first border brick, was built during the time of the Austrian Queen Maria Theresa.
She was the first to start building the embankment and controlling the flow of the Danube.
Later, since the embankment was not high enough for the wild Danube, another layer was added.
The willow trees look completely wild.
This part falls within the undefended flood zone.
We continued our walk.
Cows can be seen in the pasture.
These are the village cows that the shepherd is looking after.
We decided to go to a power line pole.
From it you can see the Danube and you can get to it by an embankment built for the purpose of maintaining the pole.
Behind the pole you can see Fruška Gora.
Summer is here, the water has receded
Where there was water, there is now grass and reeds
Looks like I'll have to go a little further along the embankment to catch the Danube
But it was starting to rain and we decided to turn back
I caught the power line pole from below even though it's not a black and white picture, it looks like that
Thanks for reading.
Until next time.
Be healthy.
as its cold there its real hot here, even when i went out early this morning for a walk, was so hot and humid
I do love walks by the water
Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk
Have a great day
This cold snap that has come our way has been pleasant, as we've had temperatures of up to 44 degrees Celsius in the south of the country, and it's become unbearable. In my area in the north, it's reached 38.
The most beautiful walk is in nature. A rest for both the eyes and the soul. I love walks in the mountains the most. And this good fisherman certainly earned his dinner.
