A lot of Green and a little Purple

avatar

We went for a walk recently in a ravine near where we live. We live in a mid sized town that is very close to a much larger city, but luckily there is a lot of green space close by for walking and enjoying nature. There are a few trails within a reasonable walking distance

This weekend we went on two different hikes in the woods starting with this one that I'll be highlighting in this post.

Our weather has finally shifted to being quite warm and sunny now. We have had good weather everyday for about a week or maybe more. We took advantage by spending some time outdoors.

I'm sure that soon it will be too hot to go outside at all, so we have to enjoy the nice weather while we can.

The province that I live in is notoriously humid in the summer to the point where you can't stand to be outside for more than a few moments before needing to race back into the air conditioning. For now the weather is pretty much perfect though - sunny and warm without a lot of humidity to make you feel gross.

Dog cooling his feet off in a stream

We were protected from the heat that day by the tree top canopy. It too bad that it didn't protect us from the bugs though.

20230527_152911~2.jpg

We got eaten alive by the flies and mosquitoes even though we were only in there for maybe 20-30 minutes.

20230527_151909~2.jpg

Okay "eaten alive" is an exaggeration. We did walk away with a few itchy bug bites but it really wasn't that bad.

20230527_151807~2.jpg

I saw this massive dead tree in the woods that day.

20230527_151816~2.jpg

I thought it was really neat how it's death has created an opening in an otherwise seamless canopy of leaves overhead.

20230527_151824~2.jpg

It almost looks as if you could climb the tree like a ladder, if you weren't
afraid of falling.

20230527_151511~2.jpg

There is a waterfall in these woods but it was a mere trickle when we saw it. I didn't even bother to take a photo of it.

20230527_153650~2.jpg

It hasn't rained here in weeks so the "waterfall" was practically non-existant. It's already been a particularly dry spring. The leaves still appear to be as green as ever though.

20230527_152902~2.jpg

As you can see I took a lot of photos looking up at the green canopy.

Soooooo much green. So much life. I love the color of it.

Hey there's a bridge.

20230527_154008~2.jpg

I know, that came out of left field but I don't know what to say about it.

20230527_154024~2.jpg

This path is right near my wifes parents house so after the walk we popped in there for just a few minutes to say hi.

20230527_160302~2.jpg

I though that these lilac flowers looked so vibrantly purple after seeing so much green. I had to take a photo of them. Well thats it for this #Wednesdaywalk in the woods. I hope you enjoyed it.

Thats it for now. Until next time, thanks for stopping by.

I'd be more worried about a brittle branch giving way! Never depend on only one foot or handhold...

It really is a nice trail :) ...

I love what I see 😍
The trees are like an army of soldiers standing tall and strong.
I think your dog has the right idea, and I am imagining what you said about the humidity in the coming months.
Enjoy the outdoors now, while you can:)

Yeah we are trying to take advantage of the good weather as best we can. I'm not a big fan of humidity

Nature lovers will always say that there can never be too much green in a landscape! However some other colours are welcome too especially that nature has such a big variety in terms of coloring 🥰

What a great place to live, out on the country but close for the city, best of both worlds. The hound is back Yeeeeee Haaaaw

Such a great place! It's full of nature. I'll be hiking that trail if I also live nearby such a place.
