A Whole Historical Memory

A stroll through the Bolivarian Museum; many times I've passed by here, and now's the chance to visit. This important museum protects and exhibits historical pieces and fragments of our history. Many relics, when displayed, offer us an imaginary journey back to the time of our independence. From this very roof, the Liberator Simón Bolívar lived and strategized, along with other heroes, for the liberation of our nation.

Toda Una Memoria Histórica

Un paseo por el Museo Bolivariano; muchas pasadas por aquí, y ahora es la oportunidad de visitarlo. En este importante museo se protegen, exhiben piezas y fragmentos históricos de nuestra historia. Muchas reliquias que, al verlas expuestas, nos ofrecen un viaje imaginario a la época de nuestra independencia. Desde este mismo techo, el Libertador Simón Bolívar convivió y creó estrategias, junto con otros héroes, para la liberación de nuestra nación.

Upon entering the museum, we find ourselves in a colonial house, with courtyards and hallways that stand out for their architecture. The exhibition includes pieces that were used, recovered objects, and pieces that, due to their great historical value, were donated.

Al entrar al museo, nos encontramos con una casa colonial, con patios y pasillos que resaltan por su arquitectura. En la exhibición podemos ver piezas que se usaron, objetos recuperados y piezas que, por su gran valor histórico, fueron donadas.

Inside, we find historical documents, colonial-era weapons, shields, paintings, and many objects and accessories used by and belonging to the Liberator. There are also some articles of clothing worn during that period.

En él encontramos documentos históricos, armamentos pertenecientes a la colonia, escudos, pinturas, muchos objetos y accesorios usados y que le pertenecieron al Libertador. Algunas prendas de vestir que se llevaron en la época

A hall of swords and daggers, wielded by many figures in our history, and later gifted by them to other heroes who demonstrated their valor and courage in the liberation of their country. We also see the different coins that were minted during that historical period.

Un salón de espadas y dagas, que fueron empuñadas por muchos personajes de nuestra historia, y que en su momento también fueron obsequiadas por ellos a otros héroes, que demostraron su valor y coraje por la liberación de su país. También observamos las diferentes monedas que fueron acuñadas en ese período histórico.

While my Wednesday walk enriches me with knowledge, my thoughts imaginatively transport me to some events, trying to evoke some scenes through the pieces on display.

Mientras que mi paseo del miércoles me enriquece en conocimientos, mis pensamientos me trasladan imaginariamente a algunos eventos tratando de evocar algunas escenas por medio de las piezas que se exhiben.

Finally, as we continued exploring, we found a room with paintings, objects, and legends that describe the end of our father of the nation, where he died, and how his body was embalmed.

Finalmente, al seguir recorriendo, encontramos un salón con pinturas, objetos y leyendas que describen el final de nuestro padre de la patria, donde murió y como fue embalsamado su cuerpo.

Then in 2010, his remains were exhumed by order of the National Government, where photographs were taken and historical images were captured for a reconnaissance study. The first discovery was that, upon opening the coffin, they found this airtight metal box containing the remains of the Liberator.

Luego en el año 2010, sus restos fueron exhumados, por orden del Gobierno Nacional, donde se hicieron registros fotográficos y quedaron imágenes históricas para un estudio de reconocimiento. El primer hallazgo fue, que, al destapar el féretro, encontraron esta caja metálica bien hermética, donde se encontraban los restos del Libertador.

Currently, the museum exhibits the step-by-step process of the entire collection of evidence, analysis, and study that was done during the time the process lasted.

Actualmente, el museo exhibe el paso a paso de todo el proceso de recolección de pruebas, análisis y estudio que se hizo durante el tiempo que duró el proceso.

This tour was a very meaningful and emotional experience for me; I hope you enjoy it through the photos I'm sharing. The museum is located in Caracas, next to Simón Bolívar's birthplace, between the corners of Traposo and San Jacinto, across from Plaza El Venezolano.

Para mí fue una experiencia muy significativa y llena de emoción este recorrido; espero lo disfruten a través de las imágenes, que les comparto. El Museo esta ubicado en Caracas, al lado de la casa natal de Simón Bolívar, entre las esquinas de Traposo y San Jacinto, frente a La plaza el Venezolano.
