First Family Photowalk
Last Sunday afternoon, my little one randomly asked that we go on a date. I was surprised! Perhaps it was because he had been watching too many YouTube videos, and one of them might have mentioned a date? Not sure, but we gave in knowing that sooner or later, he won't ask this anymore, so we treasure moments like this!
I asked him first what he meant by a date, and he answered, "walking". So we prepped and decided we should go on a motorbike, then stop and walk in specific areas so we could do simple photowalks! He agreed!
I remember telling my husband a few months ago that we should go on a photowalk since Matti knows how to take photos now. This is hitting two birds with one stone! We have to have family time, and at the same time, expose Matti to one of our hobbies - photography.
Our gears:
Mine: Fujifilm X-T1 + TTArtisan 27mm f2.8
Husband's: Fujifilm X-M5 + Viltrox 28mm f4.5
Matti's: Panasonic Lumix GX85 + Panasonic 15mm f1.7
And sharing here some of the shots we did, straight out of the camera! Let's see how the images end up. Note, these are not edited, all were taken out of the camera, not even cropped or straightened!
First stop was near the Casbu River! I was born and raised in Guindulman, but never been to this area, this is just 10 minutes away from our house! My husband said he always passes by this area when he is biking! I guess I must go out more often starting today, so I can explore the other areas of my hometown!

The second stop was near the Casbu bridge! There were people around, and motorcycles passing by that Matti's subject was always the motorcycles!
Let's see how our shots turned out:

I don't always use the viewfinder when taking photos, but this time, I did, and it was not a great experience. My eyesight is bad, and it is uncomfortable looking away after taking the shot. But our little one somehow enjoyed using the viewfinder! It somehow gave a nostalgic feeling!
And then we stopped at the rice field area nearby. It was familiar, and surprisingly, Matti remembers this was where I was practicing flying the drone, and this was where we also took videos and photos for Matti's 3rd birthday! He remembers everything and told us he misses this place! I am glad he has a sharp memory!
Let's now go check our shots:

After this, my little one requests that we go to a cafe. We headed to Sticky Buns Cafe and ordered some croissants!
This is Matti's camera. Love how cute it looks!
And before going, I asked Matti to smile for me.
We reached Sticky Buns Cafe and thought they were already closed but gladly, they were still open as there were still customers inside. They are already on a 50% sale as it was almost six in the evening by that time.
Glad they still have stocks and which we like! Cromboloni, Pain Au Chocolat, and Pain Suisse.
Then ended the afternoon eating our croissant at the town's boardwalk. We had a great time, and I hope this will be the beginning of our little family tradition.
I love spending time and taking photos together as a family. What do you think of our shots? I realized, I took the most photos and my husband had the least. Matti's setting was on automatic while I did manual. I always love having depth of field in a shot, and this activity has made me love the Fuji colors once again. No need for fancy edits, just post it right away! I usually use my Sony camera but would need to edit the colors before posting, now I appreciate Fuji's color science!
I am pretty sure that this experience will stay in Matti's heart and memory. Being intentional takes a lot of effort, and sometimes, we have to keep other things on hold to make way for what's most important.
Thanks for reading!
