In my Wednesday walk I am pleased to show you the images of a part of the residential street Linea in Vedado Habanero, my walk is the stretch that goes from Paseo street to 12th street. It was really not many blocks, but I ended up a little tired because I went with my little girl who was very comfortable sitting in her baby carriage while I pushed, so I ended up a little exhausted, as the sun was quite strong, even though we are still in winter. But I enjoyed the ride and my new entertainment of taking pictures for this community. 📸

En mi paseo de Miércoles me complace mostrarles las imágenes de una parte de la residencial calle Línea del Vedado Habanero, mi caminata es del tramo que va desde la calle Paseo hasta la calle 12. Realmente no fueron muchas cuadras, pero terminé algo cansada porque fui con mi niña que estaba muy cómoda sentada en su coche infantil mientras yo empujaba, así que terminé un poco agotada, ya que el sol estaba bastante fuerte, a pesar que aún estamos en invierno. Pero disfrute del paseo y de mi nuevo entretenimiento de tomar fotografías para esta comunidad.📸

Linea Street is one of the oldest streets in Vedado, and the first to be built, between 1892 and 1901, more than a century ago. In its street you can admire all kinds of buildings from the most modern to the oldest, so we can admire the different types of architecture from the most remote times to the present. Its old houses and buildings (unfortunately) are not always in such good condition.
In many of its buildings you can appreciate the style of other times. These were houses where the aristocracy of the country lived, so they were very luxurious, very beautiful and elegant houses. Some of them still are. 🏠

La calle Linea es una de las más antiguas del Vedado, y la primera en ser construida, entre los años 1892 y 1901 hace más de un siglo. En su calle se pueden admirar todo tipo de construcciones desde las más modernas a las más antiguas, por lo que podemos admirar los diferentes tipos de arquitectura desde épocas más remotas a la actual. Sus casas y edificaciones antiguos (por desgracia) no siempre se encuentran en tan buen estado.
En muchas de sus edificaciones se puede apreciar el estilo de otros tiempos. Estas fueron casas donde vivió la aristocracia del país, por lo que eran casas muy lujosas, muy bellas y elegantes. Algunas aun lo son. 🏠

Linea Street in Vedado is named after the railroad line that used to run through the area, connecting this avenue to other points in Havana, a name that still survives in our time. Of the railroad line and streetcars there is no trace left.
In that street were the first mansions and lived some personalities of the Cuban and foreign culture and society. Some eminent Cubans were: The painter Mariano Rodriguez, the pianist Jorge Luis Prats, and the poet Dulce Maria Loynaz, where she lived her childhood and part of her youth.
A curious story I read that caught my attention was about a French character who lived and worked on Linea Street, was that of Sylvain Brouté, owner of a candy store located on Linea and 8th, he was a famous cook and confectioner, so much so that nowadays the famous Cuban chain of bakery and candy store bears his name, "Sylvain". 🥐

La calle Línea en el Vedado se nombra así por la línea del ferrocarril que pasaba por el lugar, uniendo esta avenida a otros puntos de la Habana, nombre que aún perdura en nuestro tiempo. De la línea del ferrocarril y tranvías ya no queda huella.
En esa calle estuvieron las primeras mansiones y vivieron algunas personalidades de la cultura y la sociedad cubanas y extranjeras. Algunos cubanos eminentes fueron: El pintor Mariano Rodríguez, el pianista Jorge Luis Prats, y la poetisa Dulce Maria Loynaz, donde vivió su infancia y parte de su juventud.
Una historia curiosa que leí y que llamó mi atención sobre un personaje francés que vivió y trabajó en la calle Línea, fue la de Sylvain Brouté, propietario de una dulcería que se encuentra en Línea y 8, era un célebre cocinero y repostero, tanto así que actualmente la famosa cadena cubana de panadería y dulcería lleva su nombre, “Sylvain”. 🥐

On this street is located the Acosta's Dance Academy, of the famous first dancer of the National Ballet of Cuba, and a figure recognized worldwide: Carlos Acosta. At the time of the photograph his dancers were practicing a choreography.

En esta calle está ubicada la academia Acosta’s Dance, del famoso primer bailarín del ballet Nacional de Cuba, y una figura reconocida a nivel mundial: Carlos Acosta. En el momento de la fotografía sus bailarines estaban practicando una coreografía.

Currently, being a busy street and being in a tourist area of our city, many gastronomic establishments have opened, such as cafes, candy shops and restaurants. Some of the places I passed by during the day, I also photographed at night, so I attach both photos. Although it is a pity that with my cell phone camera the photos were not so clear at night.

Actualmente por ser una calle bastante transitada y estar en una zona turística de nuestra ciudad, se han abierto muchos locales gastronómicos, como cafetería, dulcerías y restaurantes. Algunas de los lugares por los que transité durante el día, también los fotografié en la noche, por lo que adjunto ambas fotos. Aunque es una pena que con la cámara de mi móvil las fotos no quedaran tan nítidas en la noche.
