The Perfect Walk at Altitude 1000

This was a perfect moment, a solitary walk like those when I started walking with the simple motivation of escaping reality and forcing myself to observe everything around me, like those walks where the beauty of my surroundings silenced my thoughts and I returned home feeling renewed. I've been doing well lately. My solo walks are behind me; my wife or one of my good friends almost always accompanies me, but this time I had to go for a walk alone, and I felt that everything around me was beautiful, almost unreal, and I connected completely with my soul.

Este fue un momento perfecto, un paseo en solitario como esos cuando comencé a caminar con la simple motivación de escapar de la realidad y me obligo a observar todo lo que me rodeaba, como aquellos paseos donde la belleza de mi entorno silenciaba mis pensamientos y regresaba a casa renovado. He estado bien últimamente, mis paseos en solitario han quedado atrás, casi siempre me acompaña mi esposa o alguno de mis buenos amigos, pero esta vez me tocó ir a caminar solo, y siento que todo lo que me rodeaba era hermoso, casi irreal, y conecté totalmente con mi alma.

I was in the eastern part of the city, which I believe I have mentioned before how much I admire, as it is notably more beautiful than the rest. I went there to run some errands and then, before returning home, I decided to take a walk and explore the area. I was practically at the edge where the city ends and the mountains begin, and I saw a sign for a dead-end street that started with a small tunnel. There were no other people around, but I didn't feel unsafe, so I dared to go through the tunnel and let myself be surprised by what lay beyond.

Me encontraba en el este de la ciudad, creo que ya he escrito en el pasado mi admiración por esta zona, notablemente más hermosa que el resto. Fui a hacer una diligencias muy puntuales y luego, antes de regresar a casa decidí hacer una caminata y explorar el lugar. Prácticamente me encontraba al borde donde termina la ciudad y comienza la montaña y vi un anuncio de una calle sin salida, la cual comienza con un pequeño túnel. No había más personas, pero no me sentía inseguro, así que me atreví a atravesar el túnel y dejarme sorprender con lo que había más allá.

It was really a dead-end street for cars, but I managed to sneak onto the highway, which was closed because it has a schedule that is exclusively for people who like to jog and ride their bikes, but I didn't encounter many of them anyway. The whole place seemed to be mine, and I felt a deep sense of peace. The wind caressed my face, and the sound of birds was my background music. The streets were so clean—I rarely see anything like that downtown—and the only thing connecting me to the world was the desire to photograph everything I saw.

Realmente era una calle sin salida para los automóviles, pero yo logré colarme hacía la autopista, la cual estaba cerrada porque tiene un horario que es exclusivo para la gente que le gusta trotar y viajar en sus bicicletas, pero igual fue poco lo que coincidí con ellos, todo el lugar parecía ser para mí y conecté con una profunda paz. El viento acariciaba mi rostro y el sonido de las aves era mi fondo musical. Las calles estaban tan limpias, pocas veces puedo ver algo así en el centro, y lo único que me conectaba con el mundo era el hecho de querer fotografiar todo lo que veía.

Once I got onto the empty highway, everything was magical. The sun was shining brightly, but the weather was cool, the blue sky contrasting with the thick white clouds and the green of the trees. It's an area with a lot of vegetation. I never imagined that I would travel so happily and comfortably on such a busy highway, possibly because I am not familiar with many of the dynamics of Caracas, but I have to admit that going exploring was the best thing I could have done this week, and I would love to do it again. I even thought about the people who take advantage of these spaces to ride their bikes along the edge of the mountain, and it makes me want to have a bike too.

Una vez que llegué a la autopista vacía todo fue mágico. El solo brillaba con intensidad, pero el clima estaba fresco, el azul del cielo hacía contraste con las espesas nubes blancas y el verde de los árboles, es una zona con mucha vegetación. Nunca imaginé que transitaría tan feliz y cómodamente en una autopista tan transcurrida, posiblemente por no conocer muchas dinámicas de Caracas, pero tengo que aceptar que irme a explorar fue lo mejor que pude hacer esta semana y vaya que me encantaría repetirlo, incluso pensé en las personas que aprovechan estos espacios para pasear con sus bicicletas al borde de la montaña y me hace querer tener una bicicleta yo también.

When we are so comfortable in a place like this, time passes more slowly. I even walked very slowly to appreciate everything, concentrating on taking pictures of flowers I found along the way and greeting some people who passed by from time to time, all of whom were very friendly. I think this place conveys the same emotions to them as it does to me. I rarely visit this area, and if I return, I don't know if the experience will be the same, but I will probably do so in the future and even take my girlfriend with me. I like to show her new and beautiful places that fill her with peace, because anything that brings tranquility to our souls is welcome.

Cuando estamos tan agradados en un lugar como este el tiempo pasa más lento, incluso caminé muy despacio para apreciarlo todo, me concentraba para tomar fotografías de flores que me encontraba en el camino y saludaba a algunas personas que pasaban a veces, todos muy amigables, creo que este lugar les transmite a ellos las mismas emociones que a mí. Pocas veces visito esta zona, y de volver no sé si se repetirá la experiencia de la misma manera, pero es probable que lo haga en el futuro e incluso que lleve a mi chica, me gusta mostrarle lugares nuevos y bonitos que la llenen de paz, y es que todo lo que aporte tranquilidad a nuestras almas es bienvenido.
