Nature's Walk At Lai Chi Kok

It's Wednesday once again! Let's have a walk in nature this time. @tattoodjay would definitely love this place and I am starting to love the place too.

Walking in nature doesn't necessarily need to go into the woods and mountains or countryside. Nature itself is everywhere even in urban areas. You can even find nature at home. The simple flower pot on your desk, the hanging plants on your windows, and others in your garden are parts of nature.

As the title shows, nature's walk at Lai Chi Kok. Although I am in Mei Foo, Hong Kong, this small neighborhood is the closest I am to. The Lai Chi Kok urban park is just located near the Mei Foo MTR station so it is easy to access by everyone willing to have a walk in it too.

This urban nature park is spacious and has several facilities. There are playgrounds for kids, sports grounds, fitness stations, jogging tracks, skating parks, football pitches, tennis and basketball courts, an outdoor pool, and an amphitheater. So just imagine the size of it!

Fitness stations especially made for the elderly and some resting spots.

Playgrounds for kids.

Spacious court for different sports activities.

Skating parks.

I love walking here as it is surrounded by lush trees, vibrant flowers, and different plants, some are even medicinal. There are also ponds and gardens hidden in the heart of it. One of them is the Butterfly Garden I shared recently.

IMG_20230728_095616.jpg

Different pavilions offer shades against the scorching sun and resting places to visitors. During holidays, a lot of foreign workers are gathering in different parts of the park.

IMG_20230728_095933.jpg

Photography lovers and aspiring models love visiting this park as it has different scenic spots perfect for photoshoot backdrops. When I say aspiring models, they aren't real models but those visitors who love posing in front of the camera. Oftentimes, I am one of them, lol.

One of the main attractions is this pavilion on top of the rock formations.

IMG_20230728_105709.jpg

Underneath the pavilion inside the rock formation is like a cave that most people visit in the park.

I caught this old woman taking a pose when I zoomed out my camera.

The stone sculpture in the middle of the pond is definitely an attraction.

My walk continued to the farther part of the park. You'll be seeing more trees and plants here and feel like you'll be walking in the forest.

Before entering the greener part, this grand staircase and a huge stone sculpture on the side would catch your attention. A lot of visitors are shooting videos and photos here. It is also a good spot for cardio exercise. Jogging on this staircase, you bet? I would love to.

Walking a little farther, the Butterfly Garden would make you stop by to take closer shots of beautiful flowers around it. And those giant butterfly stone sculptures are a great attraction. Don't miss this out in spring, you would love more beautiful flowers in full bloom.

I passed by an array of pine trees where people were having picnics under canopies. The ground was still a little soak from the rain but they didn't bother. The pine trees are pretty sight and I looked forward to seeing more ahead.

Now let's get into Lingnan Garden. This, as well, is a beauty to behold in this park. Most visitors are lurking around here, especially on weekends. Its Chinese architecture from the old dynasty is an attraction and it resembles a palace's garden.

There's a pond where turtles and different fish live. Meanwhile, the trees are birds' sanctuary. Some fungi live here as well and seem to have been taken care of by nature before people pick them up. On some occasions, you would see butterflies roaming around. Meanwhile, birds are flocking together and chirping as visitors' choir. Their sounds are soothing to the ears.

From the inside part of the garden, I walked out heading to the back part - the nature trail. Beforehand, I passed by this little bamboo forest and the staircase led me to another pavilion that serve as a resting shed for visitors.

On the green grasses and under tree canopies are people resting and chatting with their friends. As mentioned above, people gather here, especially on weekends. It's a perfect spot for those who want to have a weekend picnic with family or friends.

As I reached the jogging track, more people were resting even along the track. A simple mat is all they need to set up a good resting spot. With their food on, the scene would turn into a picnic site.

Most of the time, you would see people holding their cameras with their models in their beautiful traditional costumes. It is a great spot for photoshoots, not just the inside part of the Lingnan Garden, but even the track surrounded by lush trees.

This side of the trail has an array of peculiar trees in almost the same formations, and they looked nostalgic but a bit creepy, especially at dusk. There are a lot of Chinese banyan trees in this area that grow outwardly. I spotted some sweet gum trees too and I can imagine the place in the golden season. It must be enchanting!

Before heading back and leaving the park, this cute panda statue bade goodbye. It looked cute even though it isn't moving. It reminded us to throw our waste properly inside trash bins to maintain the cleanliness of the place. In case you didn't notice, it is a trash bag holder. Such a creative idea to encourage people not to litter their trash improperly and throw them into it instead.

My walk ended here. And by the way, outside the park are several restaurants and cafes where you could grab some snacks after the relaxing walk in nature.

I hope you like the place too as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lovely park where one can go for a walk between the concrete jungle, places like this used to the utmost for a taste of nature.

Thanks for sharing the lifestyle enjoyed in this region.

What a beautiful place to stroll around. It is so clean and I have not seen any trash all around. By the way, the Panda trash can is so cool. Hehe. Love it much!

It is really clean as there is maintenance in the place to keep it clean. And visitors are responsible to throw their trash, otherwise, they'll be penalized hehe

Every city has its magic and this park is very nice, it has a great vegetation cover, as well as a fitness area and others for games, besides a lake. Your pictures are great, you managed to capture the fantastic thing about the place.

This place does look like a great place for photo shoots. I can imagine many gals go there to have photos of their favorite outfits to bridal parties staging professional pictures. A beautiful place. Vancouver does have a similar park at the west end of Chinatown called the Dr. Sun Yet-sen Gardens but not as expansive and as broader with amenities.
Thanks again for the tour @jane1289
