Opposites Attract: Male-Female

The sculpture from Gustav Vigeland the famous Norwegian sculptor.
participation for @qurator photo-quest theme: opposites.
male vs female.

Hello, hivers and friends. here is my Wednesday walk to Vigeland park in Oslo, Norway.
These human figures with different emotions carved in local granite by world famous sculptor Gustav Vigeland. All statues are naked, the idea behind carving them naked was that Vigeland was thinking when you clothe the people that defines their place, time, status etc. But somebody naked could be anyone, anywhere, and anytime.
all these sculptures are carved very accurately anatomically, Touching these smooth granite statues gives the feeling of touching real human. He worked for this art together with two carvers and made many iron and bronze human figures as well. he donated most of them to the city of Oslo which decided to place them altogether in a park. unfortunately he died before the park was finished.

The park is very famous and is the largest human sculpture park in the world we entered from rear entrance. This is my second time visiting this place. From a long distance it looks like lots of people sitting around the monolith but they are all stone sculptures.

The Monolith. Carved out of a gigantic stone block. 121 humans climbing around and clinging to each other, with children at the top. Every figure represents a different stage of life.

Vigeland Park has more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and cast iron, the realistic art represents the cycle of human life with all its emotions.

This small sculpture of the angry boy. is perhaps the most iconic one of all

But I like this one happy girl.

And this sculpture shows life difference of life: old and young.

this park is divided in 5 units. one of that is a bridge and here on both sides of the bridge there are more then 50 bronze sculptures of men women and children with different emotions.

The bronze clock on granite base with astrological figures.

A bronze circle of human life cycle. circle of life. surrounding from 20 statues which represent life cycle from birth to death. Because of an effort to save water the fountain was not running

The huge rose garden with 14,000 plants of 150 species. while walking I heard the story one guide was telling to her group. about this rose garden. The sculptor vigeland had plan to make rose garden after finish the park, he was the one designing and planning about park. But before park finished he died and the people will wanted to fulfill his dream with rose garden but they don't know what roses he wanted so they collect and planted 14,000 rose plants 150 different species of roses. The rose garden also one of attraction and one unite of this park

That's a great place to go, and thank you for passing us this information, it's my first time hearing or seeing a place like this, I only knows about museums.
Moreover, it's unfortunate that the mind behind this beautiful creation couldn't witness its standard, may his soul rest in perfect peace.
He's having a great idea behind leaving them naked, it's true that, human being will surely put on at least an atom of humbleness whenever he/she is naked, but nakedness still doesn't reveal what we actually are, the real human being are always in their heart and mind.
Color, tribe, tradition or cloth can not define who a person is, except if we can access what is in every man's heart, then we realize who is actually standing next to us.
Once again, thank you so much for this piece of information, you actually did a great job, and I love to visit there and feel what you felt too.
