Wednesday Walk: One Last Seaside Stroll Before Heading Home

Before heading home from my holiday, I had time for a couple of walks, this one was along the Bournemouth, UK coastline. It was the perfect way to breathe in the fresh seaside air before returning to reality. Walking along the promenade, we passed a row of beach huts painted in pastel shades of mint green, sky blue, lilac, and pink. My friend's black pooch loved trotting along the concrete path beside us, sniffing everything in sight.

​Further down the shore, some local maintenance was underway. A bright yellow excavator was working near the water by the rocky defence barriers, while holidaymakers relaxed nearby on the sand with windbreaks and umbrellas up. It made us laugh as there was no way I could have put up with the noise, but it didn’t seem to bother them, despite plenty of quiet beach nearby.

Out on the rocky groyne by the water edge, there seemed to be a photoshoot going on. You often find students out doing things like this for whatever reason, usually for a college project.

​As we carried on along the path, the pooch trotted ahead off the lead, so I stopped to snap a quick photo of him as he passed a bicycle parked up against the railings. We had a job keeping up with him. I was tempted to try and catch up with him on the bicycle!

​Looking back along the beach, the view opened up across the wide stretch of sand and pebbles. With tree lined hills in the background, a scattered crowd enjoying the water, and light clouds drifting across the blue sky, it was a peaceful scene. It was a nice final stroll to end a great trip.
