Wednesday Walk: Beating the Heat in a Cool Morning Woodland Walk 🌲

Lately, the weather has been absolutely scorching. Because of the heat, my walking has been limited. Today, I decided to outsmart the sun. I woke up early to take advantage of the lovely, cool morning air in my local woods before the daytime heat took over.

This is my #wednesdaywalk, initiated by @tattoodjay.

As soon as I stepped onto the circular footpath, there were squirrels scurrying absolutely everywhere! Can you spot the two squirrels high up on the branch chasing each other in the trees?

They’d been doing some logging in the area, and this freshly felled tree showed the marks of the saw all along its trunk.

As I continued following the loop, the reality of our recent hot weather became very obvious. The stream that usually flows through the wood had all but dried up, leaving behind nothing but a puddle under the wooden bridge.

Further along the path, I passed a very special tree. This is the tree where everyone hangs "in memory" messages at Christmas for family members and pets who have passed away. I think years ago, someone placed a message on it and it took off. Now everyone does it.

I also decided to do a bit of geocaching along the way. I successfully tracked one down, but unfortunately, the small container was broken and the log sheet you sign to record your find was missing.

Just as the air started to turn hot again, I finished the circular loop and made my way back to the car passing a nice rose bush along the footpath. I was glad I caught the morning breeze.

Lovely and nice walk among nature. Heard about the extreme heat. Here we have rainy days to cool the heat. We all feel the piercing hot rays through the clouds, this is somehow a result of geoengineering. Nature would fight back one day!

The heat is too much, sometimes. We aren't used to it.
